Photos: Maryam Sanda Who Stabbed Her Husband To Death In Abuja Arraigned In Court Alongside Her Mother, Two Others
Maimuna Sanda, the mother of Maryam Sanda, the nursing mother who stabbed her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, son of ex-PDP chairman, Haliru Bello, to death at their home in Abuja, in November, appeared in court today. Maimuna and two others were last week included as defendants in the case.
Recall that last week, the police amended the charges against Maryam, to include her mother Maimuna Sanda, her brother Aliyu Sanda and one other person, as co-defendants. The co-defendants were accused of tampering with evidences that would be used in the case. Read here .
At the resumed hearing of the case today, the defendants all pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them. Their counsel, Joseph Daudu while asking the court to grantthem bail, argued that a medical certificate has been tendered before the court that Maryam needed a medical attention. Daudu also added that Maryam needed to give her seven month old daughter proper care and that staying in the prison is not ideal for a child.
He prayed the court to grant his client bail pending the hearing and determination of the case adding that the first defendant is anxious to clear her name. He, therefore, told the court that the defendant would not jump bail. On his part, the prosecution counsel, James Idachaba stated that the defendant has been enjoying administrative bail. He submitted that the defendants should remain in the custody pending their trial .
The judge will decide on her bail application later today by 3pm.

Imo Assembly Denies Endorsing Okorocha’s Son-In-Law
The Imo State House of Assembly has denied reports that it endorsed Uche Nwosu, Governor Rochas Okorocha’s son-in-law, to succeed him in 2019.
Recall that the Chairman, House Committee on Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission and Niger Delta Development Commission, Henry Ezediaro, had last week announced Nwosu’s endorsement by the lawmakers.
However, the Speaker of the House, Acho Ihim, denied it.
According to Ihim, anyone is entitled to their opinion.
“No doubt, he is a member of the APC and a citizen of lmo State and these therefore give him the right to vote and be voted for,” the speaker said in a statement on Sunday.
“However, it needs be made clear that at no time did the members of the lmo State House of Assembly which comprises elected members of the APC and the PDP meet and endorse Ugwumba Uche Nwosu as our preferred governorship candidate or any person for that matter.
“The job of elected members of the House of Assembly is to make laws and make resolutions at the plenary that will impact positively on the lives of the people of lmo State. Endorsement of candidates for whatever position is not part of it.
“Each member is at liberty to have preference for any aspirant of their choice but certainly not a House matter.
“Its therefore mind-boggling that a distinguished honourable member is quoted to have granted a press interview declaring that the 27 honourable members have endorsed Ugwumba Uche Nwosu.”

Agbakoba Says Buhari Lacks Knowledge Of Govt
President Muhammadu Buhari ”does not understand the nature of how to run a government,” Senior Advocate of Nigeria Olisa Agbakoba has said.
Speaking with journos in Lagos, Agbakoba called on the president to disengage his entire ministers over what he believes is incompetence.
“Government’s work is misunderstood even by the President. He doesn’t understand the nature of how to run a government,” Agbakoba, who expressed sadness over governance in the country, said.
He listed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, and that of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, Kayode Fayemi, as examples of round pegs in square holes.
“He [Buhari] needs to sack his entire cabinet because they have failed,” the former president of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) said.
Further more, the lawyer berated some governors for performing below par in his reckoning.
One of such governors is that of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode.
“Governor Ambode of Lagos State says that he runs either the third or fifth largest economy in Africa, but you are all in Lagos. This is a broken city, it is a completely broken city and in the index of the harshest cities to live in the world, Lagos is third from the last,” Agbakoba said.
He did not leave out the governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, and his colleague in Rivers, Nyesom Wike.
Hear him: “Okorocha is erecting statues of all kinds of people when Imo state owes pensioners.
“Wike is using Rivers state money to buy SUVs for members of the National Assembly.”

The Katsina State Police Command have arrested a 30-year-old woman in Marabar-Kankara, Malumfashi Local Government Area, for allegedly attempting to sell her twin children.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Besen Gwana, who confirmed the incident on Wednesday, said that on December 2, the Command based on a tip-off arrested Salima Lawal, who had egotiated to sell her twin children at the sum of three hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N350,000) to someone in Ruwan Godiya village, Faskari LGA of Katsina state.
He said that after negotiations to buy them at the price, the person went to bring the money.
"Instead of him to bring the money to her, he reported the case to the police. The next thing she saw were policemen who arrested her,’’ he said, adding that the case is under investigation and the woman would be charged to court soon.

Following the ongoing campaign for the SARS squad to be scrapped, Falz, has shared his experience with the officials of the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS).
Narrating his ordeal, the rapper who is also a lawyer, told the NET NG, “on this particular day, they spotted us somewhere in Lagos and doublecrossed us, they then asked us to come down from our car. My manager tried to have a conversation with them but before he knew it, they gave him a dirty slap, he was close to tears. They said they would arrest us and take us their station. I wanted to sue them, not as a lawyer, but solely because they violated my human rights, but then, it is really sad that they think because they have guns, they think they are in a position of power and they use these to oppress poor Nigerians.”

These are the men who are supposed to protect us, but they are opening fire on us. They have resulted to targeting young guys. These days, once they see a young man looking flashy, they automatically think you are a yahoo boy” , he added.

Former Gov Ohakim Says Creation Of Ministry Of Happiness Is An Abomination
Angry reactions have continued to trail the creation of Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment by Governor Rochas Okorocha and the subsequent appointment of his sister, Mrs. Ogechi Ololo as commissioner for Happiness.
Reacting also, the immediate past Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, described the creation as an ABOMINATION.”
His words: This is a sort of abomination. How can this man continue to insult the sensibilities of Imo citizens? Whose happiness are they looking for when salaries and pensions are not paid? Are we looking for the happiness of the Okorocha family and friends? I have not heard about such a ministry anywhere in the world, before. It is not in Britain that gave us independence. It is not in the United States of America, whose democratic system we copied. It is not in Canada. It is nowhere in West Africa.
I have searched through the internet and I am still searching to see where it was practised and couldn’t find any. Honestly, this is a bizarre creation and I won’t be surprised to see the Governor’s aides struggling to defend this indefensible act.
Speaking to Vanguard also, a social critic and one time supporter of the Governor, Prince Bob Njemanze said: “As I make serious effort to convince myself that Imo has not been trapped by a megalomaniac, the more I am proved wrong by someone I am belabouring myself to make excuses for.
The recent appointment of the Imo Governor’s sister, Mrs. Ogechi Ololo, who as his housekeeper, was designated Deputy Chief of Staff and now branded Minister or Commissioner for Happiness, is an indirect way of re-enacting the Governor’s aborted Abortion Law. This shows to what level governance has been reduced in Imo State. This act borders on moonlight jokes and folklore.
The most uncommon thing is sense and that can be seen from the uncommon wisdom being exhibited by the numerous actions and activities of Governor Rochas Okorocha.
When contacted for his comment, the former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, said he was completely TIRED of talking about Governor Okorocha.
Mum Dies Of A Broken Heart After Losing Her 10years Old Son And Granddad Days Apart
A woman reportedly died of a broken heart this week after losing her 10-year-old son and her granddad just days apart.
Ashley Tomlin, 32, suffered a ruptured heart artery and could not be saved by paramedics. Ashley died in the early hours of Monday morning while at home with mum Jill Tomlin.
Ms Tomlin’s dad Keith, 59 says his daughter "died of a broken heart" after losing her grandfather, James Tomlin, just a day before her son Jak died. Jak passed away on November 6, just hours after complaining of chest pains. He died of a ruptured heart artery also, just like his mother.
Keith spoke of the night his daughter spent with her mother before she died, saying: "They had a quiet night in and it got to about midnight, when Ashley went to the bathroom. Jill heard a noise and when she went in, she found Ashley having a seizure. The paramedics couldn’t bring her round. They think it was a massive heart attack, but I have my first meeting with the coroner and he told me he wishes they could put ‘broken heart’ on the death certificate, because that is basically what it was."
After Jak’s death, housewife Ashley described her son as "perfect in every way". Ashley's family are trying to come to terms with a third unimaginable loss in just one month.
Keith said: "Ashley was our only child. I’ve lost almost my whole family in a matter of four weeks. Jill has lost the main focus of her life. They were her life. My focus now is on helping my ex-wife get through this. I don’t know how I’ll get through it but I have to."
Lady 21, Commits Suicide After Her Boyfriend Of 4 Years Broke Up With Her Over The Phone
A 21-year-old lady identified as Tawa Oshunuga allegedly committed suicide after her boyfriend of 4 years broke up with her over the phone.
According to eyewitnesses, Tawa, who was a makeup artist died on Monday less than 24 hours after she returned from spending the weekend with her boyfriend.
She was in the company of her friend when her man called, she excused herself to answer and nobody can tell what exactly happened after the phone call
The next news people heard was that Oshunuga bought a Snipper, a local insecticide, drank it and died.
It is reported that she called her mom who sells pepper at Alarape Market and asked to come home that she was going through excruciating stomach pain.
Speaking to News Telegraphy Tawa's friend said.
“Tawa was with her boyfriend throughout Saturday and Sunday. When she returned from her guy’s place on Sunday, she didn’t go straight home. She came to play with us. We joked with her that she had gone to satisfy herself. We told her to go home and see her mother. Her mother had already come to ask her from us. The mother knew we were close friends in the community. But we didn’t tell her that Tawa went to her boyfriend’s house. The mother needed Tawa on that Sunday to assist her in the market. We gathered that when she got home, her mother was already in the market. It was after she drank the snipper that she called her mother to come home quickly. She told her mother she was feeling serious stomach pains.
“When her mother got home, Tawa was on the floor, writhing in pains. The mother immediately called some of their neighbours and they rushed her to a private hospital.”
Another friend, who identified herself simply as Jummy said: “It was in the process of trying to take her to hospital, they discovered a bottle of snipper beside her. It was then people realized that she poisoned herself. At the hospital, doctor referred her to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. That was how we lost our friend.”
The incident was reported at the Alade Police Station, Somolu, Lagos, after she was brought back from the hospital. She was buried at Atan cemetery.
Man Commits Suicide In Okoko, Says His Wife And Mother-in-law Were His Problems
A man recently ended his life by hanging himself to death over an alleged controversy between his wife, mother-in-law and their Pastor, in Okoko, Lagos.
The man, only identified as Papa Ugochukwu was found clutched to the ceiling fan, in his sitting room by neighbours at their compound.
Before taking his life, the man who seems to be troubled, destroyed his ATM cards and left a suicide note on the table, where he wrote that his wife and mother-in-law were his problems. He also apologised to his own mother for committing suicide.
In the video shared by Biafra IPOB Infos, one of the shocked neighbors also revealed the man was a working class, who was earning over N200k monthly.

Gov. Okorocha Blames Printer’s Devil For Mistake In Naming "Ministry Of Happiness" To Which He Appointed His Sister
The Rochas Okorocha administration has blamed the printer’s devil for the wrong christening of the Ministry of Happiness.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, said a typographic error led to the naming of the ministry as the Ministry of Happiness and Couples Fulfilment, rather than its proper nomenclature — Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment.
“There was a typographic error in the first statement issued on the swearing-in of the new commissioners.
“The word “Couple” was inadvertently written, instead of the word “Purpose.” We regret that.”
The statement went on to justify the essence of the new ministry and its purpose in the state.
“The essence of life is to be happy and to fulfill one’s purpose in life. Government officials are elected to address this.
“Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment Ministry, therefore, is established for the lost time to correct the policy framework to guide ministries and departments on what they must do to guarantee the citizens’ happiness and contribute better to the society.
“This is the very reason people elect their leaders: to guarantee their happiness and purpose fulfillment.
“A great leader, therefore, is one who provides happiness to the people.
“Unfortunately, this vital element of our social lives has not been properly addressed.
“Governments at different levels have created several ministries and departments to achieve this, yet people are bitter, angry, with hate speeches, which led to crisis, war, and even terrorism,” the release read.
The statement further described the choice of Okorocha’s sister, Mrs. Ogechi Ololo, as the supervisory commissioner in charge of the ministry as a wise choice, considering her experience in administration.
“The choice of Mrs. Ogechi Ololo, a Master’s degree holder in computer science from the USA who has been the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor on Domestic Matters and Food Security can be described as a round peg in a round hole.
“Before her appointment as the supervisory commissioner, she was charged with the responsibility of liaising with the Federal Government on N-Power Project, CBN Anchor project, and BOI Empowerment Projects.
“Governor Rochas Okorocha has also created other similar ministries such as the Ministry of Non-Formal Sector and Market development to address issues of poor state of Imo markets and organize the non-formal sector to make them more productive.
The Ministry of Education was also split into three: Primary and secondary, tertiary non-formal education, ICT, science, and technology.

Father Mbaka Reportedly Resurrects A Dead Baby During Crusade
Popular controversial Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka allegedly resurrected a baby who was confirmed dead during a program at the Adoration ministry in Enugu state yesterday.
According to social media users who shared the photo online, the child was brought to the crowded crusade in a box and handed to the priest who then revived her after praying for her before returning her to her family.
In the photos, Fr. Mbaka is seen at the altar, bending over the child who was lying on the box. In a different photo, he was seen handing the child back to her mother.

Amethyst Realm was on today's This Morning where she told host Phillip Schofield that she left her fiancé after he caught her having an affair with a spirit. She left viewers baffled as she claimed to have had sex with 15 different ghost lovers. She says she believes she can fall pregnant by having sex with ghosts, saying that's what phantom pregnancies are.
After listening to her, Phillip Schofield told her that she'll have a "reputation" in the spirit world.
He told her: "I could imagine you've got quite a name for yourself in the spirit world."
He had asked her earlier when she had her first sexual encounter with a ghost and she replied: "It was about 12 years ago now, I was living with my fiancé and he was working away a lot."
She added: "I started to feel a presence."
Amethyst says that one night she decided to dress in sexy lingerie and hang around in the spare room, where she'd felt the ghost's presence the most. She said she waited a while before anything happened and feared that she'd put the ghost off by coming on too strong. But she claims that just before falling asleep, the ghost turned up and they had sex. She said she's gone off men completely and has had sexual relationships with 14 other ghosts after the first one.
Holly Willoughby, the second host, asked if she'll feel that way forever, or if she may want children one day. And Amethyst said that she believes she can still get pregnant by having sex with a ghost.

Lolz....Pastor Begs Court To Dissolve His 9years Marriage Over Wife's Laziness.
Adedayo Adeyemo, an Ekiti state pastor has asked the Ado-Ekiti Customary court to dissolve his marriage of nine years to his wife Kemi on the grounds that she is lazy, doesn't care for the children and turns a deaf ear to correction. He also prayed the court to award him custody of his children aged nine and five years.
The 38yr old who is the pastor of Joint Heir Assembly of God, Ado-Ekiti said:
“My wife is a lazy woman; she does not sweep the house, prepare food for the children or bath the children. “I cook for the children."
The President of the Court, Mrs. Olayinka Akomolede adjourned the case till Jan.18, 2018 for further hearing.
'I agree, it is time we stop criticizing the Jonathan administration' Rotimi Amaechi
Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, says he agrees with Nigerians that have called on the Buhari-led government to stop criticizing the Goodluck Jonathan administrtaion and focus on how they can work towards improving the loves of Nigerians.
Amaechi who was strongly opposed to the last administration and worked for their exit, said this when he spoke at the inter-ministerial committee for the finalisation of the Draft National Transport Policy (NTP) recently.
“I agree with those who said we should stop criticising the last government and do our own. We need to leverage on what we know. People are shouting intermodal transport. I went to the new airport in Singapore and I didn’t find one person at the airport. As you walk in, technology takes over. They also said in the next few years, they would introduce driverless cars. We should also think outside the box about on how to improve our transport sector and think less about how the sun and moon affects the sector or building more bus stops. We should see how much investment we can put into ICT. Intelligence transportation should not be ignored. What we want to assure Nigerians is that under the Buhari administration, we would do everything possible to ensure that we maximise the resources which accrues to each ministry”

Wife of a member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Lumsambani Mijah Dilli, gave birth to triplets after 24 years of marriage.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the former bank manager, said both mother and children are doing wonderfully well.
“We found out we were having triplets; I am proud and grateful that after nearly 24 years of marriage, my wife delivered three healthy, beautiful babies," said Dilli, who represents Demsa Local Government Area.
“I can’t express the pure happiness of having a baby,” he added.
On her part, the new mother said:
“The Lord is good as today Mr. and Mrs. Lumsambani Mijah Dilli are blessed with triplets after 24 years of marriage without bearing a child, glory be to God."

Imo State Commissioner Of Happiness Speaks Amidst Criticisms
Newly appointed Imo State commissioner of happiness, Mrs. Ogechi Ololo (nee Okorocha) has defended her new job against criticisms.
Mrs Nkeccki Ololo in an interview with BBC Africa challenged Nigerians condemning Gov. Okorocha , saying the ministry was created to cater for welfare of Imo residents.
According to her, the post will pay school fess of Imo citizens who cannot afford it, amongst other benefits.
She said “Happiness can mean anything to anybody; for some people, happiness means having food on their table, some it’s about schools, some about the roads, some it’s about security.
“Here in Imo we have free education, this policy makes people happy by paying for children’s school fees. So that is the policy of happiness and that is part of the ministry of happiness.”
When asked why Okorocha appointed his sister, she added “Okorocha did not create the ministry because I am his sister.
“There are so many people out there that need help, that need our service.
“Happiness can be defined based on individuals reactions.
“This is Imo life and I believe that Imo people are very happy about it.
“It is a new ministry and people don’t understand, so they have the right to ask questions but with time they will definitely understand meaning of commissioner of happiness.”

Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari has been nominated for a chieftaincy title in Enugu state.
Igwe Cyprian Nevobasi, the Igwe Omeluenyi 1 of Aguneese, Ezeani 111 of Nmaku Kingdom, Enugu State nominated Adesina as part of the 1st Grand Ofala to mark his 14 years on the throne, next month.
The Igwe was personally at the State House, Abuja, to present the nomination letter to the S.A Media today where he disclosed that his traditional cabinet chose Adesina "because of the good work he has been doing for the country. President Muhammadu Buhari is God-sent, to bring change to Nigeria, and you have been supporting him in the assignment, to the admiration of myself and my cabinet members."
The Igwe said he looked forward to a positive response from the nominee, noting that his first Ofala festival in 14 years promises to be a grand event.
Adesina thanked the Igwe, his entire kingdom, and members of the delegation, saying:"I am simply short of words."
