You’re A Terrorist Sympathiser – Sunday Igboho Blast Shirk Gumi For Asking Northerns Not To Vote Politicians Who Will Fight, Arrest Bandit

Controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has been described by Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho as a terrorist sympathiser.

Igboho disclosed this while reacting to a trending video of the Gumi warning Northerners against voting for politicians who won’t grant amnesty to bandits wreaking havoc across the region.

Recall in our previous report, Sheirk Gumi has said terrorists are warriors who shouldn’t be killed but negotiated with.

“All these contestants, I have been listening to their speech and I have seen some speech where they stated that they are only waiting for them to be given power so they can bring more rules that will help them attack and kill the terrorists in the bush, our warriors in the forest….. our people in the bush.

“But what we actually want is a government that will call these people to a peaceful talk so we can live in peace. So vote for those who after attaining power will call and negotiate with our people (bandits) so as to give them what they want for peace to reign,” Gumi said in the video.

Gumi has visited gangs of bandits in their hideouts in an attempt to negotiate a peace deal with them.

Reacting to it, Igboho said Gumi’s statement confirms his conviction that Yoruba people must put their destiny into their own hands.

The Yoruba Nation agitator said for the government to make progress in the fight against kidnapping, Nigerians like the Islamic cleric who make unguarded inflammatory statements, should be arrested.

He said, “My attention has been drawn to a dangerous and careless statement made by Sheik Gumi, ‘Don’t vote for politicians who will attack, kill Bandits: They are our warriors in forest- Islamic Cleric, Sheik Gumi tells Northerners’.

“it was reported that the above statement emanated from the popular Northern cleric, Sheik Gumi. Sheik Gumi is a known sympathizer of the bandits. He has on many occasions rubbished the Federal Government and clearly canvassing support for the criminal bandits.

“It is surprising that the Federal government has refused to make any move against him despite clear laws banning convert sympathy for terrorists. Gumi’s statement is a confirmation of my conviction that the Yoruba people must put their destiny into their own hands.

“The North is in fact, in control of Nigeria, has lost grip of it and dragging every other tribe to Golgotha. The earlier the Yoruba people realize that their lives are being run by the likes of Sheik Gumi, the better.

“It is now crystal clear that the politicians are behind banditry, kidnapping and terrorism. Imagine, how would the government make progress in the fight against kidnapping when a man like Gumi makes unguarded inflammatory statements of this nature but continue to walk free unchallenged?

“Other ethnic groups in Nigeria are pawn in the deadly games of the North. I saw these issues and they form my unwavering support for Yoruba Nation. Under a Yoruba Nation, there will be no one that would have the gut to fan banditry, kidnapping and terrorism in Yoruba land.

“With Gumi’s statement, is there any need for anyone in Yoruba land to remain on the fence on the matter Yoruba Nation? Everything is a circus. The Yoruba Nation must stand strong, refuse everything that their subjugation represents. The Yoruba people must unite and chart our own agenda.

“This larger issue is not about me (Sunday Igboho). It is about the future and security of our people and the coming generations. I am using this medium to call on all Yoruba sons and daughters to join our engagements and seek to determine their destiny.”

Again, Lagos Government Shuts Quilox, Over Noise Pollution

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, on Saturday, shut down a popular nightclub, Quilox, on Ozumba Nbadwe Street, Victoria Island, for organising an event without a sound control permit.

According to a statement on Sunday, the enforcement exercise, which was jointly carried out by LASEPA and the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (task force), took place around 4 pm.

The club is owned by Shina Peller, a member of the House of Representatives representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency in Oyo State.

Similarly, the club was sealed off by LASEPA on December 23, 2019 over noise pollution and traffic congestion.

The General Manager of LASEPA, Dolapo Fasawe, on Sunday disclosed that the club was again shut down over non-compliance with the law on obtaining a sound control permit.

She said the agency received several distress calls with video evidence from concerned neighbours on the alleged environmental nuisance constituted by the club.

“To avert situations like this, we recently held a stakeholders’ parley with the owners and chief executive officers of night clubs in the state to address the issue of noise pollution during the festive period. The state, in its magnanimity, compassionately increased the decibels to accommodate leisure and hospitality business interest,” she said.

“We urged them to apply for sound control permits to enable us to reach out and notify the host community of the intended programme and further deploy our officials to the venue for proper monitoring and prevention of excessive noise pollution.”

Fasawe noted that an invitation was extended to Quilox management, like every other stakeholder, which was ignored by the club.

Arrest CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele On Sight – SSS Declares

The State Security Service has started exercising a be-on-the-lookout for Governor Godwin Emefiele of the Central Bank of Nigeria, according to two officials familiar with the matter.

Consequently, the domestic intelligence office has deployed several officers to monitor the CBN Headquarters, Mr Emefiele’s family residence in Lagos, and the Abuja home of businessman Christopher Emefiele, unrelated by blood.

An SSS officer familiar with the matter said the deployment came from an assistant director and could not immediately say whether or not Director-General Yusuf Bichi signed off on it.

“We have different teams of at least two each monitoring those places,” the officer said under anonymity to disclose cursory specifics of an ongoing operation. “We don’t know if they have more people deployed to even more places, but we did not see any signal from the DG’s office to suggest his involvement at this point”

The officers were still quietly monitoring the locations as of Saturday morning, The Gazette was told. Christopher Emefiele did not comment on whether or not he had noticed the presence of state agents near his property. Mr Emefiele’s phones rang through on Saturday morning and his wife Margaret declined a request seeking comments.

The development comes as Mr Emefiele’s whereabouts became fuzzy after learning of an active threat to take him into custody by the SSS. The agency unsuccessfully sought a warrant from the Federal High Court earlier this month, with a federal judge ruling that sufficient probable cause was not established for the issuance of a warrant against a sitting governor of the nation’s banker and foremost regulator of the banking sector.

In the application ex-parte, an action filed to the exclusion of its defendant, the SSS asked the court to order Mr Emefiele’s arrest on account of terrorism financing and economic sabotage, among other nefarious acts.

But Justice John Tsoho said he didn’t see enough evidence in the SSS application and bemoaned the agency’s failure to take him into confidence.

“It therefore seems that the applicant intends to use the court as a cover for an irregular procedure, which is unacceptable,” the judge ruled on December 13.

Mr Tsoho, however, said the SSS could still take Mr Emefiele in as part of its mandate as a federal law enforcement outfit. The CBN governor does not enjoy constitutional immunity from arrest or prosecution while in office.

CBN officials said Mr Emefiele had not been seen at work since he joined other top Nigerian officials who accompanied President Muhammadu Buhari to Washington D.C. for a string of political and business engagements in the United States capital between starting December 11. Mr Buhari returned to Abuja shortly before 5:00 a.m. on December 18, but Mr Emefiele has remained out of public view.

But officers suspected Mr Emefiele was not in Nigeria and might linger abroad to avoid being arrested. But for how long Mr Emefiele could remain in hiding or avoid stepping into Nigeria while running the central bank would ultimately rest with the president to decide.

Justice Tsoho said he weighed the economic ramifications before quashing the SSS’ request to arrest Mr Emefiele, but analysts said it was possible the allegations’ wide publicity could already take a negative toll on the economy — without necessarily saying how steep at this point.

A CBN spokesman declined comments about Mr Emefiele’s whereabouts. The presidency has not commented on the matter.

The CBN governor has seen support from civic groups, with many saying he has become the latest victim of power play ahead of general elections due February.

Mr Emefiele sought the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress during primary season earlier this year but later backed down after being told he must step down from office before engaging openly in partisan politics.

He also recently issued a controversial directive that limited withdrawals from bank accounts to N100,000 ($130) per week. Economists slammed the policy as senseless and excessive, warning it would rapidly exacerbate harsh economic conditions across the country. But central bank officials said the move was to suffocate ongoing moves by politicians to warehouse cash that would be used to bribe voters at the ballot box.

Before then, the governor had announced a sudden redesign of naira notes, which would have rendered any previously stockpiled banknotes invalid for election use.

Supporters said the moves made Mr Emefiele a target of some corrupt politicians, with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party all but naming ruling APC’s presidential candidate Bola Tinubu as the mastermind. The SSS has a history of being used to settle political scores, including the assassination of regime opponents.

The controversial policy was reversed earlier this week, but it was unclear whether or not Mr Emefiele took the measure to placate the SSS.

An SSS official said there are internal fears the agency was becoming too politicised to the point of distraction for career officers willing to focus only on their national security assignments.

“We are very concerned at this point,” the agent said. “We don’t know what Emefiele did, and no one is telling us what he did; we are only tasked with bringing him in for questioning.”

“That is too political for us, and I am not the only one here worried about this,” the officer added.

A spokesman for the SSS said he was not immediately available to discuss matters relating to Mr Emefiele.

I’ll Stay Away From Abuja When I Leave Office So No One Will Give Me Problems Anymore – President Buhari

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his desperation to leave office and return to his village.

On Sunday, Buhari said he is eager to leave office and return to his hometown, Daura in Katsina State after handing over power to whoever emerges as the next president in the 2023 election.

Buhari, however, said when he leaves office on May 29, 2023, he will stay away from Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory to avoid problems.

When he hosted residents of the FCT who paid him Christmas homage at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Buhari said, “Thank you very much for taking your time to come and visit me and I congratulate you on this great day (Christmas).

“I have promised a lot of my colleagues that I will try and be as far away as possible from Abuja when I leave the office so that nobody can create any problems for me anymore.

“I will be in Daura, which is on the border with the Niger Republic and I think in spite of technology, I will be safe enough there.”

The President expressed his appreciation to Nigerians for supporting and giving him the opportunity to lead them.

Reiterating that he will not stay in office beyond May 29, Buhari said, “I thank God that before the 2019 elections I went around the whole of the states and in 2003-2011, I went to all the local governments in this country and I thank Nigerians, the people who turned up in every local government were more than what anyone can buy.

“So, I was pleased with the way Nigerians highly treated me and accepted me. In five months’ time, I will happily retire according to the provisions of the constitution of the country and go back home.”

Tinubu Is Dependable, He Alone Can End Terrorism In Nigeria – CAN Says

The Lagos State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) says only the enthronement of a good leader like Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will end terrorism in the country.

The association’s chairman, Stephen Adegbite, spoke to journalists on the sidelines of the state’s Christmas Carol at the Christ the Light Chapel, Alausa, on Wednesday.

According to him, citizens want peace in Nigeria and it is somebody of the calibre of Mr Tinubu that can muster the political will to fight terrorism to stand still.

“His antecedents over the years as a public officer and freedom fighter had portrayed him to be patriotic and dependable nationalist,” he said.

Mr Adegbite added, “We need a leader that is capable of using other means, aside from military, to quell the crises that had resulted in human carnage in parts of the country.”

He said Nigerians had an ample opportunity in the coming election to put in the position of authority, leaders that could bring Nigeria of their dreams to reality.

The bishop, who had led teams to offer palliatives to the Internally Displaced People (IDP) camps in the northern part of the country where terrorist attacks were a regular feature, expressed dismay at the havoc in the area.

The Lagos preacher described terrorism and insurgency as whirlwinds that blew no one any good and called on Nigerians to come out en masse to vote for credible persons at the polls.

The CAN boss, sympathetic to the APC’s presidential candidate, said Christians in Lagos supported the ruling party’s standard bearer.

He called on the Nigerian youths to make their voice heard in the elections by partaking in the process.

Mr Adegbite advised the younger ones not to stand aloof but allow those that could create the needed job to absorb them into the position of authority.

He said that Lagos CAN had been vocal in matters affecting the people and would continue to do so to lead the people well.

Prof Akintoye Resigns As Leader Of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide

The leader of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, the umbrella/apex body of the Yoruba self-determination struggle, Professor Banji Akintoye has stepped down.

The General Secretary of the association, Tunde Amusat, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

According to the statement, Akintoye has handed over the baton of leadership to his former deputy, Wale Adeniran.

Adeniran resigned from the executive of the organisation in November, citing matters of principle as the reason for his resignation.

Akintoye, a Professor of History and member of the Nigerian Senate in the Second Republic confirmed his resignation in a letter to Adeniran, which was dated December 5th, 2022.

He said he was handing over the mantle of leadership to him, citing old age and a weakened body system.

Akintoye apologised that he was resigning from the management of the organisation when the movement was in crisis. He, however, urged Adeniran to bring everyone together and resolve all contending issues.

The new leader of the self-determination group is a retired Assistant Professor of African Studies and the pioneer Commissioner for Education in Osun State. He hails from Ile-Ife.

“Dear Wale, I write this letter to you in your position as Chairman of Ilana Omo Oduduwa to congratulate you and the newly elected Executive Council of Ilana,” the letter from Akintoye read.

“I also hereby inform Ilana through you of my departure from further responsibilities in Ilana. I urge you and all others not to think that this step is a consequence of recent difficulties in Ilana.

“As you know better than any other person, I have been seeking for over a year now to take my leave from Ilana because combining the duties of Ilana with the duties of the greatly elevated demands of the Self-determination Struggle has been too heavy for me at my age.

“I am greatly honored that you as the closest person to me in Ilana, most Ilana members, and all Ilana committees, have for months been urging me not to leave Ilana because, according to you all, Ilana is my special ‘baby’ in the whole Self-determination Struggle.

“But you would remember that in a special meeting of leaders of the Self-determination Struggle from all over the world about a month ago, you and all the other meeting participants agreed graciously that I should give up my duties in Ilana because of my heavy accumulation of duties to the higher levels of the whole struggle.

“As for our current difficulties in Ilana, I am sure you would testify that I am not leaving because of them, and that, in general, even the greatest of difficulties never make me quit. I am imbued with God-given confidence that I can bear all things and solve the most tortuous complications among men, because God in His mercy has given me the gift of a heart that loves all persons in all situations.

“Still, I must ask you to forgive me for leaving Ilana to you in its current condition. I had wanted to leave Ilana immediately after the special meeting of worldwide leaders about a month ago, but I decided to help you to iron out some of the ongoing difficulties before leaving. Unfortunately, things have not improved as quickly as I expected, and you now have to face a situation in which some of our extremists are still compounding the difficulties. However, I have much confidence in you – including confidence that you will find ways to steer our Ilana back to the path of compromise, unity and strength.

“Finally, I must congratulate and thank you for your very high quality of leadership in this struggle for our embattled nation. I must congratulate and thank you, particularly for your bearing with strength and fortitude the frequent vilifications and false accusations.

“We who have stepped out bravely to liberate our Yoruba nation and to save it from being destroyed by the destructive forces of Nigeria are going through a lot of fire from our own people. No doubt, we shall soon be hearing from some habitual detractors that it was you who disloyally plotted against me and made me to leave Ilana, but we must not let such talk bother us in any way.

“By the grace of God, we shall win this war and liberate our Yoruba nation, and thereby give our nation the freedom it desires to develop into a greatly respected modern country in the world.

“Of course, you know that I shall always be available to you – to you personally as friend and close associate in the higher levels of the Self-determination Struggle, and to Ilana as Patron and Mentor in the way that I am Patron and Mentor to other Self-determination Organizations.

“I thank God for His leadership qualities in you, and thank you for giving yourself so unstintingly to our struggle for our nation. Accept my best wishes for you and your family.”

CBN Increases Cash Withdrawal Limit To N500,000 Weekly

Following public outrage against the initial N100,000 limit earlier imposed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the apex bank has increased the maximum weekly limit for cash withdrawals by individuals and corporate entities through all channels to N500,000 and N5 million, respectively.

In a circular issued by the CBN on Wednesday, the apex bank said the policy was revised after consultations with stakeholders.

“The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) hereby makes the following reviews: (1) the maximum weekly limit for cash withdrawal across all channels by individuals and corporate organisations shall be N500,000.00 and N5,000,000.00 respectively,” the circular reads.

Two weeks ago, the CBN lowered the weekly over-the-counter cash withdrawal limit for individuals to N100,000 and for corporate organisations to N500,000.

The bank also limited withdrawals at point-of-sale (POS) terminals and ATMs to N20,000 per day.

The idea has sparked outrage among Nigerians, with many concerned about the unbanked population’s survival in the aftermath of the new policy.

The Nigerian National Assembly’s top and lower legislative chambers had both opposed the development.

While the Senate asked the apex bank to consider raising the withdrawal limit, the House of Representatives summoned Godwin Emefiele and directed that policy implementation be halted until the House was properly briefed on how the bank intended to implement the policy in a way that would benefit Nigerians.

Man Arrested For Presenting Stolen Cow For Father-in-law’s Burial Rites In Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested one Ikenna Ogbonna Ota, a native of Azuoto Okpoitumo community in Abakaliki Local Government Area of the state.

Ota was arrested for stealing and presenting a stolen cow for the burial rites of his late father in-law.

It’s a known tradition among the people of Izzi clan in the state to perform burial rites of their deceased relations, especially parents and in-laws with cows in order to avert stigmatisation by the people.

Ota was reported to have visited the family house of his in-laws on Friday for the presentation of materials for the burial of their late father, according to The Point.

He had come with a female cow he allegedly stole from his community to them for the ceremony.

Unfortunately for him, the owner of the stolen native cow, Thomas Agbo, who came to sympathise with the family of the deceased, was able to identify the cow being presented by the son-in-law as his missing cow and raised the alarm.

Agbo said he went for a routine check on the cow in the bush four days before the burial date of his neighbour’s father-in-law but could not see the cow where it was tied.

He explained that he was surprised to see the stolen cow at Ebia Unuphu Community where he went to commiserate with the family of Okemini Oyibe.

Agbo said that he saw the cow being tied with some Fulani cows for a presentation for the rites.

“Ikenna Ogbonna Ota is my neighbour. I knew his father-in-law was dead and the burial was slated for 9th of December. Days before the ceremony, one of my cows went missing.

“All efforts by my children to find it were not successful until I coincidentally saw it being presented at Ebia Unuhu by Ikenna for the burial rites of his father-in-law,” he said

When interrogated, the suspect claimed that he did not steal the cow.

He alleged that he bought it at the sum of N110,000 (One hundred and ten thousand naira only) from a man known as ‘Mr. No Time’ at Azu-Ebonyi, Amachi Unuphu, a neighbouring village to Azuoto Okpuitumo.

The police said that the suspect would be charged to court after the investigation.

“I’ve gotten a commitment from the president personally, because I sat down with him twice, that even if it is the only legacy he will leave, he will make sure he conducts free, fair and credible polls,” Mr Atiku said.

Mr Atiku added that he is confident about the ability of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct an election void of manipulation, owing to the recent reforms and technological improvement in the electronic transmission of result that the agency has deployed in the last gubernatorial elections.

Despite fierce defence from Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress and strong contest by third-force Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Mr Atiku’s associates continue to boast of a clear path to victory, citing his popularity in the northern part of the country and dependable allies in the south.

According to them, the former vice president’s neo-liberal leaning makes him the most qualified to govern the country due to the feasibility of his proposals.

Justice Ijeoma Ojuwku of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has sentenced Doyin Okupe, the director-general of the Peter Obi presidential campaign, two years imprisonment following a guilty verdict on charges of money laundering and diversion of funds.

Mr Okupe was earlier today found guilty of 26 counts (34-59) out of the 59 charges on allegations of syphoning N10 million on multiple occasions between 2012 and 2015 while serving as Senior Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

In her ruling on Monday afternoon, Justice Ojukwu, who is the presiding judge in the case dating back to 2019 brought against the Ogun-born politician by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), handed Mr Okupe a two-year imprisonment sentence.

However, the court gave Mr Okupe an option of N500,000 fine which should be paid before 4:30 p.m. of Monday, December 19, certifying the acceptance of a guilty verdict, or file an appeal and be taken into custody until further directives.

Meanwhile, Mr Okupe wasn’t found guilty by the Judge on counts 1 to 33 on the basis that the EFCC failed to establish the offence of money laundering and criminal breach of trust and corruption against former NSA Sambo Dasuki.

My “Fiance” Forced Me To Post Engagement Ring, He Is Threatening To Leak My Nude – Nollywood Actress, Empress Njamah, Cries Out

Nollywood actress, Empress Njamah has cried out to accuse her fiance of trying to blackmail her by releasing her nudes to the public.

She also accused her ‘fiance’ of physically assaulting her, in a Livestream via her business Instagram account on Friday.

Njamah revealed that the engagement video on her personal page was made under duress and that she had been scammed, beaten, held hostage by the man, who she said is from Liberia.

She said, “A guy that one couldn’t even call a human being came into my life in pretence of wanting to marry me, I didn’t know that he had other motives and he came when I was very vulnerable, when I lost my friend, Ada Ameh. I’ve been speaking to this guy for months on phone, speaking to people I thought were his relatives, everything is just scam. He came into my life, said he could not leave me because I wasn’t not okay. I really wasn’t okay, I was hiding it from the press. The death of my friend broke me down so bad I could not function and he said he was going to stay with me, I didn’t know he was busy gathering his tools, his materials which he was going to use to blackmail me.

“Afterwards, he had my naked videos and he changed, he started hitting me and when I wanted to talk and tell him this can’t work; he blackmailed me with my own videos and said I’m going nowhere and that’s when he turned into an animal. Beats me anytime, locks me up, put the keys in his pocket, in my own house. I didn’t have access to leaving my room. This is the guy who lied me that when he came into Nigeria, all his things were stolen, his phones, his credit cards, his clothes and he got into trouble and he needed lawyers which I gave a huge amount of money, talking millions. He was out, he came to Abuja and started living with me. I became a shadow of myself, the Empress you know became a shadow of herself, if you were around me, you’d notice my social life was no more, there was nothing to post anymore. My fans were asking ‘Are you okay?’ They didn’t know I was going through something worse than that.”

The actress added, “He wrecked me, finished everything. This person I’m telling you actually got a ring and forced me to do a video, which he posted on my page because he has access to my page. He changed all the passwords, logged me out of every email I have, everything I have, all my phones, my iCloud, everything, I don’t have access to anything, I don’t mind. I’m alive to tell you the story, I was able to run that night, I ran into the street, not minding who or how, I fell into a gutter. I was able to see a mallam to ask for a phone. I called my brother and he picked me from the hospital, the following morning, took me home.

“This guy came back, after looking for me, took my car, took my international passport, he took my remaining money. He took my iPad, my earpods, he had two bags of my valuables, took the car and left. He has the guts to be sending threat videos saying whatever I do, whoever I tell he’ll put it out there.

“I’m not the one handling that page. #empressnjamah is not been handled by me. Go to my page and see the video he posted, does that look like something I will post? I was under duress posting that video called engagement.”

Nobody Can Threaten Me Over My Preferred 2023 Presidential Candidate – Former Nigerian President,

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said there is nothing to threaten him with in his choice of presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.

Obasanjo, spoke at the Ohanaeze Ndigbo National Secretariat in Enugu State, when he and leader of the apex Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, signed a condolence register opened for First Republic Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi.

He said, “I have shed my blood for this country. I have gone to prison for this country. So, what are you going to frighten or threaten me with? The only thing that my senior brother (Adebanjo) hasn’t done is that he hasn’t shed his blood but he has gone to prison but we will leave that aside.”

Describing the problem of Nigeria as more of national than ethnic, former president, reiterated his avowed commitment to enthroning a new Nigeria, stating that the country did not just need a president at this critical time, but yearning for a leader with character.

“The problem we have in our hands in Nigeria is not ethnic. It is national. And for me, the most important thing in a leader is character. The problem we have had is that we have not had a leader with the right type of character that they should be trusted with the leadership role.

“So, if I put my hand on someone, it means that comparing with the other, I see that there is merit that will be of benefit to Nigeria. And I believe that Chief Adebanjo stands for the same thing,” he stated.

Obasanjo while signing the condolence register described Mbazulike as an authentic Nigerian patriot and the last of the titans, while Adebanjo said he was a true Nigerian who fought from youth for a country where equity, justice and fairness reigned.

They regretted that foremost nationalist was not able to witness the new Nigeria that he laboured for decades.

The Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, was also around to sign the register.

The elder statesman died November 1, this year at 93.

23-year-old Protester Convicted For ‘Waging War Against God’ Executed By Iran Government

A 23years old man arrested during a protest has been executed by the Iranian government

Majidreza Rahnavard, was said to have been hanged from a construction crane in Mashhad on Monday.

This was stated in Iran’s judiciary’s news website, stating that Rahnavard was convicted of killing two members of the country’s Basij paramilitary force on November 17.

“The suspect was arrested by the security forces while he had fled from Mashhad and was planning to flee the country. Immediately after the arrest of the accused, the proceedings began,” the judiciary said.

The court accused him of “waging war against God” and threatened to punish him accordingly.

Within four weeks of his arrest, he was charged, sentenced to death, and executed without legal representation.

The judiciary’s news agency published several pre-dawn photographs purportedly showing Rahnavard’s execution at an undisclosed location in the presence of a small group of people behind barricades.

Masked security personnel were seen encircling the area.

Following Rahnavard’s execution, Gholam Sadeghi, chief justice of Khorasan Razavi, thanked law enforcement for “performing their legal duties in the shortest possible time, as well as the officials and the judicial review board, who handled this case quickly, responding to public demands for order and security, and dealing with rioters and lawbreakers,” according to the three principles of correctness, accuracy, and fairness.

The announcement comes just days after Iran announced the country’s first public execution of someone convicted of a crime related to the country’s ongoing protests.

The Iranian judiciary identified the executed man as Mohsen Shekari.

Shekari, like Rahnavard, was found guilty of “waging war against God” after allegedly stabbing a security officer with a knife and closing down a street in Tehran, Iran.

Following Shekari’s conviction, the judiciary’s spokesman, Masoud Setayeshi, stated that anyone who uses a “cold or warm weapon with the intent of harming the life, possessions, or family of people or terrorising them” could be charged with moharebeh, or “waging war against God,” which carries the death penalty.

After the death of Mahsa Amini, a Kurdish woman from the northwestern city of Saqez, who was said to have been arrested by morality police on September 13 for not wearing a proper hijab, Iran has been experiencing its largest uprising in decades.

Foreign-based human rights organisations have said more than 450 people have been killed during the protests, which is higher than the death toll of 200 provided by Iran.

The human rights groups have also warned that more people arrested in connection with the protests could be executed soon.

Iran is second to China as the country with the most executions carried out annually.

Meanwhile, weeks after the protests began, the morality police was disbanded.

I Recently Had A Miscarriage – Actress Toyin Abraham Reveals

Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, has revealed that she recently miscarried a pregnancy.

The actress said this in an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Rubbin Minds’ with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Sunday.

She also said people usually ask her when she will have another baby despite having a son and a stepdaughter with her husband, Kola Ajeyemi, adding that when the time is right, she will conceive and have another child.

Responding to a question about comments made at the time of the miscarriage about her weight, Abraham said she was body-shamed.

“I was actually pregnant, but I lost it. When it happened, I cried. I just wanted to have one or two more children and I’m done. Things happened. I was so bloated and everyone kept battering me! Saying ‘Look at you! You are too fat! Look at your husband! He is young.’

“But they don’t understand, so when they say all these things, guess what? I’m used to it. As an actress, you just have to or else you will just die of depression. Once I see it and if I am not okay with the comment and you keep going, I will just block you. I don’t have time for negative energy.”

36years Old Man Busted For Having Sex In Public With A Dog

A Florida man went on a deranged rampage in which he had sex with dog in front of horrified families — and then destroyed a church nativity while trying to escape from the angry onlookers, police said.

Chad Mason, 36, allegedly began his sick crime spree while walking a friend’s labradoodle Friday in a quiet neighborhood in Clearwater, police said.

At one point, he began fornicating with the animal in full view of several spectators — including a child, according to Fox 13.

An adult confronted him during the act and he ran toward nearby Northwood Presbyterian Church, where he toppled a Christmas nativity scene and smashed several potted plants that had been put out for display.

“When he was confronted by someone at the apartment complex there, he ran from the scene and began to wreak havoc in the surrounding area,” authorities said.

Mason then destroyed a mailbox and even tried to steal a car to make his getaway, according to a police report.

Several witnesses called 911 and responding police units located him nearby before taking him into custody.

Mason is now facing a slew of criminal counts, including lewd exhibition and criminal mischief at a place of worship.

He bonded out of jail and will appear in court later this month.

Oyetola Looted TV Sets, Chairs, Others From Official Lodge In Abuja Before Handing Over – Osun Government

The Osun State Government has stated that the immediate past governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola, and his team looted several public properties at the Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

The accusation was contained in a statement by Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson of the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Monday, adding that Oyetola and his cohorts allegedly escaped with items such as television sets, chairs, foams, electrical fittings, bed sheets, spoons, and cutleries, among other valuables.

Titled “How Oyetola’s Team Looted Abuja Governor’s Lodge– Osun Govt,” the statement revealed that during an inspection, it was discovered that valuables had been looted from the lodge.

The statement read, “The Osun State Government is constrained to report yet another discovery of mindless looting of public properties at the Governor’s lodge in Abuja. The unprecedented pillaging of assets in the lodge was uncovered when a physical inspection was conducted on the facility during the weekend.

“On the physical inspection team was the Chairman of State Assets Inventory and Recovery Committee, Dr B.T Salam, and other top government functionaries.

“The lodge was stripped of all valuables acquired with public funds by those officials of the past administration.

“From the main house to the service flats and up to the boys quarters, clear indications of valuables removed can be observed. Items such as television sets, chairs, foams, electrical fittings, bed sheets, spoons, and cutleries, among other valuables, were illegally removed from the lodge.

“Every utility vehicle procured for use in the lodge was also carted away from the building. The lodge was in a terrible state and similar to the way we found the Deputy Governor’s quarters and others at the Government House in Osogbo following the brazen looting of that facility.

“We are shocked by this lust for materialism as evidenced in the unexplained pilfering of public properties by officials of the past administration. Civil servants in the Abuja lodge confirmed the pillaging of the state’s asset by Mr Oyetola’s men but said they were powerless in stopping them.

“That this happened in the Federal Capital Territory is another peep into the gross abuse of office by officials of the past administration. Those who think we were playing politics with the revelation only just need to see the level of theft of public assets that we found on the ground.

“This matter, just like those before it, is being looked into by the Assets Inventory and Recovery Committee, and we want to assure the public of this government’s firm resolve to recover every stolen asset.

“We want to call on whoever is in possession of public properties to return them forthwith. The Assets recovery committee is working round the clock to track and recover all looted assets.”
