“He may change his composure, but he was definitely a very unusual person in so many respects. He was so accomplished. I always tell my son that I don’t like people excelling like this in any thing they are involved in. Experience has taught me that such people don’t last long.” he added.

Ex-U.S. President Trump To Be Arraigned Next Tuesday After Indictment Over $130,000 Hush Money Paid To Porn Star

Donald Trump, formerly US president will be arraigned before New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan next Tuesday, his lawyer Susan Necheles told AFP.

Trump huddled with lawyers and advisers at his Mar-a-Lago home on Thursday evening after news broke that a Manhattan jury had voted to indict him over a $130,000 hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Trump blasted the indictment and said Democrats would regret persecuting an innocent man when his supporters dumped them out of office.

Thursday’s indictment made him the first former US president to face criminal charges, even as he makes another run for the White House.

In the meantime, the Manhattan district attorney’s office said it was in touch with Trump’s lawyers to arrange his surrender in New York.

A source told DailyMail that the head of Trump’s security detail recently travelled to Manhattan to review arrangements and that the former president would likely be formally arrested next week.

That could be as soon as Tuesday, Susan Necheles, one of his lawyers, told the New York Times.

Although the indictment is sealed for now, CNN reported that it contained more than 30 criminal charges.

‘The Democrats have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to “Get Trump,” but now they’ve done the unthinkable – indicting a completely innocent person in an act of blatant election Interference,’ Trump said in an emailed statement.

‘Never before in our nation’s history has this been done.’

The indictment marks the end of a five-year investigation into cash paid to the adult movie star in 2016, allegedly to buy her silence about their affair.

And it takes the country into uncharted political and legal territory. Although being charged with a crime would not disqualify him from running for office, it does mean a leading 2024 candidate faces the humiliation of arrest.

A spokesperson for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said talks had begun to bring Trump to New York.

‘This evening we contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan D.A.’s Office for arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment, which remains under seal,’ they said.

Earlier, Trump played nine holes of golf at his Florida club as usual on Thursday morning. But the 76-year-old did not stay for lunch even though his usual table was reserved.

A source close to his Mar-a-Lago home said the Trump team was ready with statements and social media messaging as soon as the indictment dropped.

‘We had a plan in place and the plan was executed,’ he said. ‘Getting surrogates out, getting content out.’

Within minutes his sons Don Jr and Eric were livecasting or tweeting, fundraising appeals followed and an emailed statement arrived from Trump himself in inboxes soon after.

‘I believe this Witch-Hunt will backfire massively on Joe Biden,’ said Trump, before criticizing the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

‘The American people realize exactly what the Radical Left Democrats are doing here. Everyone can see it.

‘So our Movement, and our Party – united and strong – will first defeat Alvin Bragg, and then we will defeat Joe Biden, and we are going to throw every last one of these Crooked Democrats out of office so we can MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!’

Trump is leading most polls of Republican voters for the party nomination. But the Manhattan case is just one of the legal obstacles he faces, including probes into efforts to overthrow the result of the 2020 election and his handling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.

Many leading legal scholars believe the hush money case may be the weakest of the lot.

Trump and his allies had even floated the idea that the case was being dropped after a series of delays to grand jury hearings.

As a result, the indictment landed out of the blue on Thursday evening.

It leaves a city braced for protests. All uniformed members of the New York Police Department need to be ‘prepared for deployment,’ according to memo obtained by the New York Times.

His lawyers, Susan Necheles and Joseph Tacopina, promised to fight the ‘political prosecution’ in court. ‘President Trump has been indicted. He did not commit any crime,’ they said.

Although he is the first former president to be criminally charged, he is not the first presidential candidate to be criminally charged. Eugene Debs, convicted of sedition and jailed for his opposition to World War One, ran for president five times.

Police Finally Arrest Controversial Singer, Portable

The Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command, has arrested controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable after expiration of 72 hour ultimatum to turn himself in.

This was confirmed by the state police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi who said the “Zazoo Zeh” crooner was arrested on Friday and he is currently at the state headquarters of the police in Eleweran, Abeokuta, Premium Times reports.

Nuella's News  had reported how Portable on Tuesday was in hot exchanges with operatives of the Nigerian police force who stormed his bar to arrest him.

The incident was captured on his verified Instagram page in live videos, where the Zazu Zeh crooner was seen challenging the authority of the police as they attempted to cart him away.

Portable made certain to question the officers about his offence and even demanded to see their identification cards. He also rebuffed the officers’ attempts to stop him, telling them that he was a superstar and celebrity.

According to one of the officers, they came to arrest the singer because of the petition against him, and they told him that he is not above the law and cannot dictate how they operate.

The police later revealed that they had received a petition against the singer and had summoned him for questioning five times, but he had refused each time. According to the police command, they went to pick him up from his bar after obtaining a warrant, but he resisted arrest.

Manny Monie, a former signee of the singer, revealed in a video posted online that he was the one who wrote the petition to the police against the singer. According to Monie, the petition was written in December of last year, and efforts to bring Portable in for questioning had failed.

“I was the one that wrote the petition against portable. It is not today we wrote the petition. We wrote it since December last year. The police have tried their possible best. They did not want his name to ‘spoil’ online so they invited him over. They gave him at least three months to say his own side of the story. He beat me, assaulted me, seized my property, made false allegations against me online,” Monie said.

Reacting to the video by his former signee, Portable accused Manny Monie of being a fraudster. He said Monie was his apprentice and that he indeed assaulted Monie.

He said beating up his apprentice was not something the police should get involved in.

‘’That boy wey I beat, he’s my boy. I’m a boss to him. Oga go beat apprentice na? That one no mean say make Police come say make dem come arrest you. This boy is my boy. He’s into Yahoo [Internet fraud]. I advised him to quit but he still dey do the scam dey go. Then I pursued him. I beat him. I flogged him. Now you want to arrest me because of I flogged him? He come to write a petition about me, about a celebrity superstar. He’s a Yahoo boy. Yahoo boy came to lay a complaint. He write petition about superstar celebrity. My work is legit. I do music for a living. I no fear anybody, na only God I fear,” the singer said in a viral video on social media.

US Recovers $53million Profits From Illegal Contracts Involving Ex-Petroleum Minister, Diezani, Associates

The United States Department of Justice has announced its final resolution of two civil cases seeking the forfeiture of the luxury assets that were laundered in and through the country in a case involving Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s former minister of petroleum resources, and her associates.

Diezani’s associates, who were named in the forfeiture case; are Kola Aluko, a Nigerian businessman and Jide Omokore, chairman of Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Nigeria Limited.

The U.S. Justice department said this in a statement on its website.

It said it recovered roughly $53.1 million in cash – constituting the net liquidated value of the defendant’s assets – plus a promissory note with a principal value of $16 million.

According to court papers, from 2011 to 2015, businessmen Aluko and Omokore conspired with others to pay bribes to Diezani who at the time oversaw the nation’s state-owned oil company.

In return, Diezani used her influence to steer lucrative oil contracts to companies owned by Aluko and Omokore.

“In return, Alison-Madueke used her influence to steer lucrative oil contracts to companies owned by Aluko and Omokore. The proceeds of those illicitly awarded contracts totaling more than $100 million were then laundered in and through the United States and used to purchase various assets through shell companies, including luxury real estate in California and New York as well as the Galactica Star, a 65-meter superyacht,” the department’s statement partly read.

“The real estate was also used as collateral for loans to Aluko and shell companies he controlled. As part of the forfeiture process, those lien holders were paid.”

“The real estate was also used as collateral for loans to Aluko and shell companies he controlled. As part of the forfeiture process, those lien holders were paid.

“Assistant Attorney General Kenneth A. Polite, Jr. of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, Assistant Director Luis Quesada of the FBI’s Criminal Investigative Division, Assistant Director in Charge David Sundberg of the FBI Washington Field Office, and Chief Jim Lee of the IRS Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) made the announcement.

“The FBI’s International Corruption Squad in the Washington Field Office and the IRS-CI investigated the cases, with assistance from the FBI Los Angeles Field Office.

“Trial Attorneys Michael W. Khoo and Joshua L. Sohn of the Criminal Division’s Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section prosecuted the cases. The Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs and U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas provided substantial assistance.

“These cases were brought under the Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative. This initiative is led by a team of dedicated prosecutors in the Criminal Division’s Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section, in partnership with federal law enforcement agencies, and often with U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, to forfeit the proceeds of foreign official corruption and, where appropriate, to use those recovered assets to benefit the people harmed by these acts of corruption and abuse of office.

“In 2015, the FBI formed International Corruption Squads across the country to address national and international implications of foreign corruption.

“Individuals with information about possible proceeds of foreign corruption located in or laundered through the United States are advised to contact federal law enforcement at tips.fbi.gov/ or send an email to kleptocracy@usdoj.gov.”

Whether You Voted For Me Or Not, Everyone Will Enjoy A Better Nigeria Under My Government – Tinubu Assures Nigerians

Bola Tinubu, Nigerian “president-elect”, has stated that Nigerians will soon enjoy a better country whether they voted for him or not during the recent general elections.

The former Lagos State Governor asserted that he was committed to rebuilding the country and renewing the “hope of the Nigerian people.”

Tinubu said these in his message to Nigerians on his 71st birthday on Wednesday, stressing that his promises were not mere words to win over citizens but a bond with them.

Speaking on his birthday, the “president-elect” said, “With such a privilege already granted to me, I will not go so far as to suggest I am due any birthday presents this year. I have already been given the greatest gift.

“A chance to lead and fulfill destiny. An opportunity to champion your aspirations and to bring about the Nigeria of your dreams.

“I will, instead, use this day as an opportunity to reiterate my commitment to the great and important task of rebuilding our nation and renewing the hope of the Nigerian people. I campaigned hard and made important promises.”

“Those promises were not mere words; professed glibly or cynically to win support. They represent a bond that binds me to the task of creating a better Nigeria for the benefit of every Nigerian, whether you voted for me or not,” he added.

To mark his 71st birthday, President-elect Bola Tinubu earlier directed that special prayers and thanksgiving service be held on Wednesday, 29 March, instead of the yearly birthday colloquium.

The special prayers will be held in Lagos and other parts of the country according to a statement by Tinubu’s spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, on Monday.

I Work With APC; We Own Nigeria Now, I’m A Federal Government Liability,’ – Portable Brags As Police Storm His Bar To Arrest Him

Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, on Tuesday had a hot exchange with the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force who stormed his bar to arrest him.

The incident was captured on his verified Instagram page, where the Zazu Zeh crooner was seen challenging the authority of the police as they attempted to take him away.

Portable questioned the officers about his offence and also demanded to see their identification cards. He also rebuffed the officers’ attempts to stop him, telling them that he was a superstar and celebrity.

According to one of the officers, they came to arrest the singer because of a petition against him. The policemen told him that he is not above the law and cannot dictate how they should operate.

In his response, the singer said, “I am a celebrity and I work for APC, you don’t have any right to walk into my office and tell me that I am under arrest.”

“I am a Federal Government liability. I work with the government too. I work with APC. Akoi Tinubu (Okay Tinubu). Nah we get Nigeria now. Nah we dey control Nigeria,” the singer added.

His connection to the ruling All Progressives Congress may be connected to his claim in June 2022 that he was paid to endorse the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

In the video posted on social media pages, he was seen asking Nigerians to vote for Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

Portable, however, fired back at his critics, saying he was only doing his job, as the ruling party had paid him to support its candidates.

“If they pay you money, you have to work. I was once paid to insult Tinubu during the protests. That was a long time ago. Now, APC has said Akoi Tinubu.

“If they pay you, do your job, no ripping. When I was asked to insult Tinubu, I collected my money and did my job. Now Tinubu is the next. They’re the ones that gave me money, and I must do the work for the money I collected. Akoi APC,” he said.

MC Oluomo Should Be Prosecuted, Pay For Attack On Igbos If… — Lagos Deputy Governor, Hamzat Says

Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Femi Hamzat has called for the prosecution of Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, the Chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, if he is found guilty of breaking any law in connection with his alleged threats against Igbo during the run-up to the state governorship election.

MC Oluomo had in weeks ago issued a threat to Igbo people to stay at home during the governorship election in Lagos on March 18 if they did not want to vote for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.

This was seen in a viral video in which the loyalist was addressing a gathering and warning their Igbo neighbours not to bother going to the polling units if they intended to vote for candidates other than the ruling party.

Following criticism, MC Oluomo, attempted to clarify his remarks, claiming that he spoke in a playful tone and was addressing a lady named “Iya Chukwudi,” not the Igbo in Lagos.

However, Hamzat, who appeared live on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, stated that MC Oluomo must face the law if evidence points to his guilt.

Asked if he saw reason in the calls for the arrest of the APC supporter, the deputy governor said, “I’m not calling for the arrest of anybody. I’m not a police officer; I’m not a prosecutor. People will look at the evidence.

“In the case of MC Oluomo, he has come out to say that he was actually referring to one woman that is Mama Chinedu, or something like that. There’s a video that shows that and that woman said, ‘He was talking to me and we’ve been friends or he’s been my customer for years.’

“[She said] that he was talking to her. So, I don’t know the facts, but people should examine the facts and if in truth he has broken the law, of course, he must pay for it. It’s as simple as ABC.”

He added that it is “very unfortunate” that voters were profiled on election day and that people were not allowed to vote because of what they looked like.

“That’s absolute nonsense. If it happened and there are videos, people should be arrested and prosecuted. That’s the bottom line,” he said.

Speaking about audio clips of APC executive council members in the state allegedly threatening non-voters, Hamzat admitted that some supporters were overzealous.

“Some people take things overboard, which is terrible. I have friends in Alaba Market. I was at Alaba Market and it was fun. There were Igbo APC members.
“So, for anybody to go and say, ‘Because you’re Igbo, you won’t vote,’ it’s just ridiculous. So, anybody that does that should be prosecuted. Bottomline. If it’s a crime, then people should pay for it.

“To assume that because someone is from one ethnic group, he’s going to vote one way is stupid,” he said.

Kano Government Has Taken Over Murder Case Filed Against APC Majority Leader, Doguwa – Nigerian Police

The Nigeria Police Force, Kano State Command said it has handed over the case file on the alleged murder case involving the House of Representatives Majority Leader Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa to the Kano State government.

Recall that Doguwa was accused of killing some members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of the state during the February 25, 2023, Presidential/National Assembly elections.

The National Chairman of the NNPP, Prof. Rufai Alkali, had called on the police authorities to prosecute the lawmaker immediately, but reacting to the call, the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on Monday said that the call is belated as the police have handed over the case file to the state counsel.

Alkali had expressed regret that Doguwa who was allegedly seen on a viral video with a

shotgun, shooting at NNPP supporters and instigating attacks on the party’s facility in Kano state “is still walking the street as a free man.”

According to the NNPP National Chairman, the Nigeria Police is carrying on its activities as if “human lives don’t matter anymore in the country.”

Leadership reports that the police spokesperson dismissed Alkali’s accusations of the police’s inaction in handling the case.

He insisted that the case was now with the State Counsel, not with the police.

The PPRO noted that “After legal advice, the case has already been charged to Court, and the case file was also handed over to them,” adding that “Those of you in Kano are much aware of the case and the happenings in the court. The case is no longer with the Police. The State Counsel has taken over the prosecution from the police.”

Dismiss Gov Yahaya Bello’s Application Challenging Forfeiture Of 14 Properties, N400Million – EFCC Tells Court

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday urged Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos to dismiss the application filed by Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, seeking to vacate the interim forfeiture order in respect of 14 properties and the sum of N400 million.

On February 22, 2023, the court granted a preservation order of the properties linked to the state government and reasonably suspected to have been derived from unlawful activities, pursuant to Sections 9 and 10 of the Proceeds of Crimes (Recovery and Management) Act, 2022.

The properties which include “Hotel Apartment Community, Burj Khalifa lying, being and situate at, Plot 160 Municipality NO 345-7562, Sky View Building No 1, Property No 401, Floor 4, Dubai U.A.E.,” were reasonably suspected to have been acquired through unlawful activities.

At the resumed sitting on Tuesday, EFCC counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), informed the court that the preservation order had been published in the Punch Newspaper, in line with the court’s directive to advertise the same in one of the national dailies.

Oyedepo said: “We were directed to make a publication of the said order and we have complied with the order of the court.

“There is an affidavit to the order dated 22nd February, 2023, which was complied with on the 24th February, 2023.

“Sequel to that, we have received a notice of intention to oppose the making of the preservation order and we have equally responded.”

Responding, the Kogi State Governor, through his counsel, Abdulwahab Mohammed (SAN), sought to vacate the order of the court, saying, “We have an application subject to your lordship’s convenience. We are ready to move the application. It was filed on March 9, 2023. The application is seeking your indulgence to vacate the order of the court made on the 22nd of February, 2023.”

He argued that most of the properties sought to be forfeited were acquired by Bello before he became the governor of the state and that the commission lacks the power to move against the governor as he enjoys immunity under the constitution.

“By virtue of the position of the applicant (Kogi State Governor), you cannot proceed against him under any law, according to Section 308 of the Nigerian Constitution.

“If you want to prosecute or forfeit his properties, you have to wait till he no longer enjoys those benefits of a governor,” he argued.

He, therefore, urged the court to grant his client’s prayers and vacate the order.

In opposing the application, EFCC counsel, Oyedepo relied on depositions in the 12-paragraph counter-affidavit and a written address dated March 28, 2023, stating that the applicant failed to reply to the counter-affidavit made by the prosecution.

“In Usman against Garke, it was reported in 2003, LPLR 3431, Supreme Court, and our submission is that failure to reply to the counter-affidavit has a single legal consequence that the respondents are agreeing to the application. We urge your lordship to hold that the failure to respond is deemed admitted.

“We have cited authorities to this effect, one of which is Patience Jonathan and the FGN, in paragraph 1.08 of our submission. The Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act, 2022 prescribes the mode of challenging the preservation order of the court and the steps to be taken by the party challenging the making of the preservation order.”

Oyedepo submitted that one of the requirements that the application must contain is that the applicant must show their interest in the property concerned.

“Apart from Paragraph 4H and I of the affidavit in support of the notice of intention, there is nothing before this Honourable court showing, by way of credible evidence, how the properties were acquired.

“In our counter-affidavit, we have established how the properties were acquired and there is nothing challenging how the properties were acquired.

“What was deposed is that, most of the properties were obtained before he became governor of Kogi State and the properties were not acquired through illegal means.

“Without establishing the interest of the applicant, the application is bound to fail.”

On the immunity clause as contained in Section 308 of the 1999 constitution, Oyedepo said: “The Provision of S308 will not and cannot be construed to a ridiculous extent of preventing the state from investigating the beneficiary of the section.

“As far back as 2002, in the case of Fawehinmi and IGP, the court mentioned that a person protected under S308 can be investigated; and the fact that someone is under immunity does not prevent the state from investigating.

“Where a state governor is reasonably suspected to have committed a financial crime, the state can investigate for evidence that will be used in prosecution when he no longer enjoys the immunity.”

Oyedepo also argued that the steps the prosecution was taking “is a step for preservation and it cannot be stopped”.

He further told the court that, out of the entire assets that the EFCC seeks to preserve, only one asset was declared in the applicant’s Declaration of Assets Form and that nothing had been said in the affidavit to challenge “the reasonability of our suspicion.”

He, therefore, urged the court to dismiss the prayers of the applicant and order him to tell the court how the properties were acquired.

Justice Oweibo adjourned the matter till April 20, 2023 for ruling.

A 41-year-old Dutch musician, Jonathan Jacob Meijer, is facing a court bid to persuade him to stop his obsessive sperm donation, despite claims that he has fathered hundreds of children around the world, DailyMail reports on Monday.

According to the Donorkind Foundation, which is suing him, he deceived hundreds of women worldwide and may have fathered nearly 550 children.

Eva, the Dutch woman at the center of the court case, had a child with Meijer in 2018 and said the fact that he had fathered so many children made her feel “sick to her stomach.”

She said, ” If I had known he had already fathered more than 100 children I would never have chosen him.

“If I think about the consequences this could have for my child I am sick to my stomach.

“Many mothers have told him he needs to stop, but nothing helps. So going to court is the only option I have to protect my child.”

The 83-year-old former Nigerian leader disclosed this in an event organized to mark the one year anniversary of the Agura of Gbagura, Oba Sabur Bakare, Jamolu II.

Obasanjo advised the monarch to propagate unity among traditional rules in Yorubaland while speaking at the interdenominational service.

“I will be here to celebrate your 20 years anniversary with you whether I am invited or not.

“By the time I also partake in celebrating your 20th anniversary with you, if God wishes, He can call me to come and meet Him in heaven because I know by that time, I will be above 100 or more .

“There are times that Kabiyesi don’t listen to words and there are times he does listen to words. If we are united, there is nothing we can’t do in Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole.”

Tinubu’s Drug Business Was Over 10 years Ago, He Can Be President Now – Bayo Onanuga Brags

Chief spokesman for President-elect Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga said that his principal’s cocaine racket in the United States happened more than 10 years ago and cannot, therefore, be used as a basis to truncate his victory at the polls last month.

“The Obidiots don’t read. They live in a cocoon of falsehood and contrived propaganda,” Mr Onanuga said while responding to a tweet from Ayo Obe, another surrogate of Mr Tinubu’s, who said the new Nigerian leader cannot be sacked by the Supreme Court because his established drug trafficking case in Chicago was already statute-barred.

Mrs Obe cited Section 137 (1)e) of the Constitution that said a Nigerian cannot be elected president within 10 years of a conviction for offences brought by the Code of Conduct Bureau.

“A person shall not be qualified for election to the office of President if within a period of less than ten years before the date of the election to the office of President he has been convicted and sentenced for an offence involving dishonesty or he has been found guilty of the contravention of the Code of Conduct,” the section said.

Mrs Obe, however, left out the preceding section of the Constitution, Section 137 (1)(d), that disqualified anyone who had been fined for any offences in the past from becoming president. That section, which applies to Mr Tinubu’s forfeiture of over $460,000 due to drug crimes in Chicago in 1993, did not give any timeline under which a convict can be released to run for Nigeria’s presidency.

It only said: “A person shall not be qualified for election to the office of President if he is under a sentence of death imposed by any competent court of law or tribunal in Nigeria or a sentence of imprisonment or fine for any offence involving dishonesty or fraud (by whatever name called) or for any other offence, imposed on him by any court or tribunal or substituted by a competent authority for any other sentence imposed on him by such a court or tribunal.”

In 2014, the Supreme Court defined forfeiture as punishment for an offence under Nigerian criminal statutes.

“The word “forfeiture” means – “the divestiture of property without compensation. The loss of a right, privilege, or property because of a crime, breach of obligation, or neglect of duty,” the court ruled on January 17, 2014, in Mohammed Abacha and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“A person who has forfeited property on the basis of a crime cannot be entitled to indemnity. Forfeiture is a form of punishment. There is no indemnity in our criminal procedure,” the court further stated in a majority decision delivered by now-Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

Mr Tinubu’s drug case is among the key grounds for Mr Tinubu’s disqualification in the election petition filed by Labour Party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi against the declaration of Mr Tinubu as president-elect in the February 25 presidential election.

Mr Onanuga’s aggression on Mr Obi’s supporters comes as Nigerian security agencies are warning citizens to tone down confrontation on social media.

We’ll Make Nigeria Ungovernable If Labour Party, PDP Attempt To Stop Tinubu’s Swearing In — Fani-Kayode

Former Minister of Aviation and member of the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign council, Femi Fani-Kayode, has threatened the supporters of the opposition parties – Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party – to desist from their attempts to annul the 2023 presidential election which produced Bola Tinubu.

Fani-Kayode said this in a release on Saturday, adding that the country would be made ungovernable if supporters of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi did not stop their protests against the result of the 2023 election.

He said, “As a consequence of the events of the last few days I am constrained to say that, the Nigerian opposition, represented by the followers of Atiku Abubakar (Atikulators) and the followers of Peter Obi (Obidients), have lost control of their senses.

“They need to get a grip before it is too late. They are attempting to start something that they cannot finish and that they cannot possibly fathom the end of. They are beating the drums of war and are indulging in a level of irresponsible and downright dangerous behaviour that has NEVER been witnessed before in the annals of the history of our politics.

“As a consequence of their subterranean manipulations, byzantine conspiracies, unhinged vituperations and unbridled desperation things are getting very hot and they are pushing us towards an Armageddon-like melt down and the road to Kigali.

“Be rest assured that had it not been for impartiality, strong resolve, persistent interventions and sheer professionalism of our intelligence agencies and particularly the DSS who have worked day and night to keep the peace and stop us from tearing each other apart, we would have trod that disastrous path and met a bitter end long ago.

“The signals are not good and, unless they exercise restraint, reflect sobriety and change course quickly, it is clear that our nation will soon find itself in a cataclysmic and monumental struggle between the forces of light and darkness, the likes of which have never been seen before.

“Permit me to offer some free and unsolicited advice to them and to those that are stoking their insufferable and rabid arrogance, intransigence and belligerence from behind the scenes.”

“Peace is priceless and unity is a fundamental pre-requisite to progress and prosperity: you must learn to cherish them both. That you have lost today does not mean you will lose forever.

“I counsel you to calm down, purge yourself of hate, sheath your sword of war, drop your dastardly game plan and not so hidden agenda to establish an Interim Government, desist from displaying madness, bend the knee and bow to your President-elect, refrain from weaponising falsehood, act within the law and, if you must, make your protestations quietly in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility and there will be no problems.

“Go to court, if you must, and state your case with respect, dignity and decorum and I assure you that, no matter the outcome, there will be NO issues. That is what democracy and the rule of law is all about. You win some and you lose some.

“However if you continue to say you do not believe in the system or institutions, that the President-elect must not be sworn in under any circumstances and that you have no faith in the courts or the rule of law and you encourage people to take the law into their own hands then you are inviting chaos, anarchy, violence, tyranny, fascism, treason, a breach of the constitution and the law of the jungle and we will NOT sit by idly and allow that.

“Let this serve as a timely warning. We cannot be a punching bag for the opposition forever and soon we will react. Trust me when I tell you that if there is any foul play in this matter or any conspiracy to thwart the people’s will, we will make this nation ungovernable.”

Labour Party Using Online Thugs To Threaten Judges – Keyamo

The spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign, Festus Keyamo has accused the Labour Party of threatening judges.

Keyamo, during an interview on Channels TV Thursday night, said he petitioned the Department of State Services because the Labour Party had been trying to rile up Nigerians and turn them against the judiciary in case the judgement of the court did not favour them.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, earlier filed a suit at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, Abuja, against the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC as the winner by the electoral commission.

The petition marked CA/PEC/02m/2023 has Peter Obi and Labour Party as plaintiffs, while the Independent National Electoral Commission, Independent National Electoral Commission, Tinubu, and the APC are the defendants.

The LP candidate described himself as the authentic winner of the election.

But Keyamo in the interview said, “People have actually retrieved their mandate by going to court, it is only when it does not favour you and that is what the Labour Party is doing now and that’s why I have to petition them to the DSS.

“There’s a buildup to something that they are doing, the buildup they are doing is to rile the people up, pump them up and then turn them against the judiciary that if your judgement does not go in a particular way.

“That is where they are going; they are setting up scene for rebellion and they are setting up a scene to blackmail the judiciary.

“And that’s why if you go online now, I have alerted the DSS that they have housed some boys in one popular hotel in Abuja and I will give that information to the DSS where they have told them every morning to be pumping out online messages to rile up the citizens, cause fear and all of that.

“What they want to do is once the judiciary now goes another way, then the Judiciary must have sold out. That’s why they are threatening the judges, they have gone up to that point. Labour Party online touts now are threatening judges, their families, exposing them so there is a situation where they want to create fear in this country.

“During the election, they tried to threaten people to support them, they failed. During the announcements, they tried to threaten INEC. Everything about them is threat, to threaten INEC to support, they failed. Now they want to move to the judiciary.”

Keyamo said the silent majority who voted for Tinubu will not allow the citizens to be riled up to the point of having something similar to the #EndSARS protests of October 2020.

But according to Keyamo, the #EndSARS protests are different because they were about citizens against the government.”

“But now it will be citizens against citizens,” he noted.

He added that Peter Obi and his running mate in the election, Datti Baba-Ahmed will be charged with a treasonable felony for saying they don’t recognise Tinubu as the ‘President-elect’.

He also alleged that Baba-Ahmed was removed from office twice because he stole people’s mandate.

He, therefore, advised him to go through the same legal process to seek redress.

Failure To Arrest MC Oloumo After Threat To Igbo In Lagos Will Breed Impunity – Pyrates Confraternity Tells Nigerian Police

The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) has accused the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Idowu Owohunwa, of dereliction of duty over his failure to order the arrest of Mr Musilu Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo after he was seen in a viral video threatening Igbo voters.

The NAS Capoon, Mr Abiola Owoaje in a statement entitled, “2023 Elections: Democracy of Trial” said the explanation by MC Oluomo in another viral video that he was joking was defective because it would only encourage others to issue threats to non-indigenes in future.

Owoaje therefore reiterated the call for the establishment of the Electoral Offences Commission to try all those involved in electoral violence.

According to him, the ethnic profiling, verbal assaults and voters suppression that marred the governorship election in Lagos and other states in Nigeria were not healthy for democracy.

“The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) is greatly saddened by the recent developments in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria culminating in the upsurge in ethnic profiling on and off social media, group blame, verbal assaults and intimidation, physical attacks, hate speech and reckless propaganda, indicative of a growing and dangerous trend of intolerance as part of Nigeria’s political culture.

“We condemn the odious resort to intimidation and physical attacks by some undesirable elements as witnessed in some parts of Lagos on March 18 with the sole objective to stymie voting in political opponents’ strongholds mostly based on tribal bias. These actions are unconstitutional, uncivilised and antithetical to the tenets of democracy. Freedom of association, unfettered membership of political parties, and the choice of voting for preferred candidates are guaranteed rights in the Nigerian constitution. Infringing upon these liberties as witnessed in Lagos and other parts of the country imperils democracy” he said.

Owoaje who insisted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) disappointed Nigerians for its lack of transparency in the conduct of the Presidential election especially the inability to upload the results to the IReV portal, called on Nigerians not to despair in their “enthusiasm for and commitment to democracy”.

He commended Nigerians for refusing to be drawn in post-election violence which could endanger democracy pointing out that this underscores the importance they attach to the survival of democracy.

“We reiterate our plea to the political class to guard against inflammatory utterances capable of fanning the embers of hate, ethnic strife and ethnic supremacy thereby delegitimizing the election results and ultimately undermining democracy. We welcome the intervention of those political leaders that have denounced ethnic profiling and we encourage more political leaders to courageously speak out against bigotry.

“The security agencies, especially the Nigeria Police and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have the onerous responsibility to ensure the speedy prosecution of all electoral offenders. Even this in the light of the sad reminder that in Nigeria promoters and enablers of brigandage, vote theft and killings in previous electoral cycles have not been adequately prosecuted to serve as deterrence and discourage the impunity witnessed in some parts of Lagos and other parts of Nigeria on March 18. These perpetrators of violence, if not already arrested, should be fished out to face the full wrath of the law.”

The Lagos State Government says a case of involuntary manslaughter in addition to reckless and negligent acts has been established against Chrisland School, some members of staff and a vendor in the death of one of its former students, Whitney Adeniran.

Adeniran was said to have slumped during her school’s inter-house sport on February 9. After an autopsy, it was revealed that the 12-year-old died from Asphyxia and electrocution.

Following the controversial circumstance surrounding the student’s death, the state government through the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo, ordered a coroner’s inquest into the matter to ascertain the cause of death. The Coroner, Magistrate Olabisi Fajana, later disclosed that the coroner’s inquest to unravel the cause of death of the 12-year-old would commence on April 4.

A three-member panel of Justices in an unanimous decision held that the appeal Adeleke lodged to challenge his sack by the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, was meritorious.

Following the ruling, Justice Mohammed Lawal, awarded N500,000 cost against the APC and its candidate, Oyetola

Court Of Appeal Upholds Adeleke’s Victory As Osun State Governor

The Court of Appeal Abuja has set aside the decision of the Osun State Governorship tribunal, and has upheld the Governorship of Senator Ademola Adeleke.

Following the governorship polls in the state, an Election Petition Tribunal that sacked Adeleke from office, saying that the Senator did not score majority of lawful votes during the July 16 governorship polls.

However, in a unanimous agreement by a three-man panel led by Justice Mohammed Shuaibu, the Court of Appeal quashed the tribunal’s judgement and gave its verdict to uphold Adeleke as rightful governor of Osun State.

The Appeal Court Panel revoked the tribunal’s order which directed that a certificate of return be withdrawn from Adeleke and issued to Oyetola.

The panel upheld the issue of BVAS raised against Oyetola, stating that the Osun State tribunal was wrong to have said that there was over voting, a claim that only relied on the evidence by Oyetola and the APC, and as such, doesn’t prove their case in any way.

APC Suspends SGF Boss Mustapha After Adamawa Election

Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has been suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Mustapha was suspended by the Adamawa (his home state) chapter of the APC, according to a suspension letter issued on Wednesday and seen by The Gazette.

The letter was signed by Muazu Kabiri (APC chair of the Gwadabawa Ward, Jimeta) and 22 other party executive members.

In the copy addressed to the party chairman in Adamawa, Mr Mustapha was accused of failing to make any meaningful contribution to the party during the elections.

“…We wish to bring to your notice that the entire party executive of the APC Gwadabawa Ward of Jimeta have unanimously reached a suspending (Boss Gida Mustapha) from partaking in all party activities,” said the suspension letter.

“I’m sure he would respond appropriately by the time he got a copy,” a source told The Gazette on Wednesday.

Mr Mustapha, a strong stalwart of the APC, lost his polling unit to Atiku Abubakar in the presidential election in Adamawa.

FG Approves Over N4bn To Build Barracks For NDLEA Personnel

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved over four billion naira for the construction of barracks to accommodate the personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), who made the announcement, said the project became necessary because of the “unprecedented” threats and attacks on personnel, officers, men and other ranks of the agency.

Malami said;

“What was presented today by the office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice is a council memo at the instance of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). As you are aware, there is a renewed and sustained onslaught against drug cartels and barons overtime.

“Within the three months of 2023, about 18,940 arrests were affected by the NDLEA and drugs with estimated value of over N40 billion naira were confiscated. Again, about 2,904 convictions were recorded. These successes that were recorded unfortunately translated to unprecedented threats and attacks on personnel, officers, men and other ranks of the agency.

And then the need has arisen for the Federal Government to consider the possibility of security measures that will now provide the prerequisite protection to the officers and men of the agency for commission.”

Malami added that the contracts were awarded to two companies to carry out the project. They are Wizchino Engineering Limited and JP Sigma Nigeria Limited.

The blocks which consist of many flats, cost N2.2 billion to the first contractor and the sum of N2.8 billion to the second contractor.

He also directed that affiliate unions constituting the Nigeria Labour Congress should also be on standby for picketing exercises across all branches of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, nationwide.

The directive followed an earlier ultimatum issued by the Central Working Committee members of the NLC last week criticising the cash swap policy of the Federal Government.

Ajaero said the decision to picket CBN branches became necessary, as the Federal Government and the CBN have not shown

Based on this, we met again this morning to review our position and resolved that by Wednesday next week, all CBN branches will be picketed.

“Workers are directed to stay at home too because people cannot eat, workers can no longer go to the office, we have been pushed to the wall, we have decided to take our destiny in our hands, we have mobilised our workers for this exercise,” Ajaero stated.

Local media reports that he won 100 million UGX (N21 million) and decided to shut down his church thereby leaving members in disbelief and confusion.

The clergyman was contacted and he confessed that the reason he chose to work in the vineyard of God was strictly to earn income to survive and not because he was called.

Ochieng further described the winning as a blessing from God and a swift way to get him out of poverty he was in because he could not sustain himself with money from his poor congregation.

Am Done With My Work On Earth, I Will Soon Die – Controversial Nigerian Pastor, Odumeje Says

Controversial clergyman, Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, aka Prophet Odumeje has said that he has completed his work on earth and will die soon.

It was reported that the founder of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry said this during service in the church where he told his congregation that it was time for him to go.

According to the publication, Odumeje fondly called Indaboski, said he had a heart-to-heart talk with his first son, David, and informed him that his last days in the world are near. He told the boy to prepare to be the man of the house who will take care of his siblings and mother when he (Odumeje) is gone.

“I have called my little son, King David, and I told him that very soon, I, your father will leave. You must take care of your brothers and your mother. I came to this world for a purpose, and that purpose has been fulfilled. I have finished my earthly ministry, and I will leave soon,” he said.
