We May Adjourn 2021 JAMB Examination – Proffesor Oloyede
The registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, has hinted at the possibility of the board postponing the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Prof Oloyede gave the hint during a virtual meeting with relevant stakeholders ahead of the examination today May 14. Prof Oloyede blamed the development on the difficulties being experienced by the candidates in their efforts to register. He said about 600,000 candidates who have indicated interest to participate in the 2021 UTME slated for June 5th and 19th are yet to register.
“We are here to commend you and also to apologise to you for putting you through some hardships, especially in your efforts to register. Most of these things are outside our purview. They have to do with government policies and we have little or no control over them.
While the mock examination will go on as scheduled we cannot say the same of the main examination. This is primarily because of NIN. We have more than 600,000 candidates who have indicated interest in our examination but are yet to receive their details. The possibility of shifting the exam forward is still high; but that will be determined after our meeting with stakeholders. This is because about 600,000 candidates who have indicated interest in the exam are yet to register. There is need to give everyone the opportunity.”he said
Oloyede said so far 1.1 million candidates have registered for the 2021 UTME. He added that the board anticipates approximately 1.9 million applicants at the end of the exercise.
The JAMB boss noted that even though 50 percent of candidates have already registered without problem, there was a need to carry everyone along, adding that after meeting with stakeholders, they will decide on whether to shift the exam forward or not. He however insisted that the mock examination will still hold on May 20.
“We apologise for putting you through some hardship in the registration. The government directed that anyone participating in JAMB must have their NIN. This is beyond our control. Those who are yet to register should do so.
The mock exam is billed to come up on Thursday. It is an exam meant to test our capability. As you all know, the main exam is coming up on June 5 and 19 2021.We are meeting with stakeholders today to discuss about the issues and on whether we will shift the exam date forward or not. We will brief the media on the outcome of the meeting tomorrow (Saturday 15, May).
Shifting the exam date is not the solution, at the meeting we will discuss on how some of the problems encountered by candidates would be resolved. It is important that we carry everyone along” he said
Stop Giving Our Religion A Bad Name – Governor Bala Tells Muslims
Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohammed, has asked Muslims to stop aiding and abetting the activities of bandits terrorizing many parts of the country.
The Nation reports that the Governor said this at the state government House shortly after performing the Eid prayers to mark the Sallah on Thursday, May 13.
According to him, most of the criminal activities like banditry, kidnapping, and others are being carried out by Muslims.
''We are grateful to Allah. Ramadan has been a period of prayers and devotion. As a nation we need to reflect deeply on our common existence because we are challenged by so many aspects of our misdemeanors, crime and criminality.
As a Moslem, most of the criminality is coming from us as members of the Islamic faith. That’s the issue of banditry, kidnapping and the rest. However, we must be very courageous to say it. It’s not something acceptable in the tenet of Islam. We should fear God to make sure we don’t give ourselves, our community and even our religion a bad name. We must have to change as this is really escalating to other parts of the country.
We know these bandits. We know where they stay and what they do. Sometimes they are aided and abetted by us.
We should fish them out because the police in their limited numbers are already overwhelmed due to insufficient human capital.
Apparently, the FG security architecture has failed not because of any compromise but because the situation is overwhelming.”

We Know Where Kidnappers Are, We Are Only Being Careful – Lai Mohammed
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has said the Federal government is not clueless as to finding a lasting solution to handle the alarming rate of insecurity in many parts of the country.
In a statement released, Lai Mohammed who had a press conference in Lagos on Friday, May 11, said the Federal government knows where different kidnappers with their victims but they are only being careful on how to attack them so as not to put the victims in harm's way.
“It is no longer news that our dear nation is facing security challenges. However, I have read comments saying the Federal Government is overwhelmed and doesn’t have a clue as to how to tackle the challenges. Some have even gone as far as suggesting a truncation of the democratic order, a clearly treasonable stance.
Well, I am here today to assure all Nigerians that while the government acknowledges the security challenges we face at this time, from terrorism to kidnapping, banditry and farmer-herder conflict, it is definitely not overwhelmed and indeed it has the wherewithal, as you will see in the days ahead, to confront the challenges headlong and restore law and order, peace and security.''
Mohammed explained that the government indeed knew the locations of kidnappers, adding that security agencies were only being careful to avoid civilian casualties.
“One of the most difficult things to do, for a democratically-elected government, is to use the instruments of coercion against its own people. For example, while the nation’s military have superior firepower over the rag tag band of Boko Haram and ISWA, the terrorists most often than not operate among the populace, either in our villages or towns, hence the military, in tackling them, is usually careful to avoid collateral damage.
The same applies to the kidnappers who abduct our school children. Usually, the location of the kidnappers is not unknown to security forces, but they still have to exercise caution in order not to hurt the same children they are trying to rescue. Despite these inhibitions, the security forces have the wherewithal to decisively tackle the challenges'' he said

75 Percent Of Nigerians Are Not Happy With Situation Of Things – Senator Okoroch Says
Ex– governor of Imo state and Senator representing Imo West, Rochas Okorocha, is of the opinion that more than 75 percent of Nigerians are not happy with the present situation of things in the country.
Okorocha said this while hosting a group of physically challenged persons who visited him at his Unity House office in Abuja.
''Nothing productive can come out of this percentage of the populace who do not daily find joy in the scheme of things in the country.
I will confidently say that over 75% of Nigerians are not happy, if Nigerians are not happy, nothing productive can come out of this large number of the populace”.
Speaking further, Okorocha said
''It is no longer the moment for us to criticize, or to make abuses because that has not helped us, if abuses and anger would have helped the nation, I am sure by now we would have fixed it.
We must change our style as a nation and imbibe the spirit of brotherhood; prayer; love, because it is the greatest instrument we can deploy at this moment we’ve found ourselves. We need sacrifice deeply rooted in love and with that I believe that a new Nigeria will definitely emerge. My message to the nation is that we must never give up on our nation called Nigeria, yes things are not okay with our nation; yes we have challenges, but we must never give up on this nation called Nigeria.
I believe a new Nigeria will soon evolve, so we must never give up on Nigeria, but rather pray for this nation.
There is a lot of killing and blood-letting and crisis, I believe that God hears the prayers of the poor; the needy; the blind and the cripple much more than anyone, so let’s use the opportunity to pray for the nation.”
Nigerian Father Bags 33years Imprisonment For Raping And Infecting 9 –Years Old Girl With HIV
A 24-year-old Zimbabwean man has been sentenced to 33 years in prison for raping hs 9-year-old grade-three niece and also infecting her with HIV.
The man who has been staying at the same house with his sister and her children, reportedly took advantage of his sister’s absence to rape his niece on multiple occasions between March and April.
The court heard that the pervert uncle would sneak into the room where his nieces were sleeping and would rape the 9-year-old. The 9-year-old shared the room with her younger sisters aged four and two.
The sad abuses was uncovered after the little girl refused to sleep in the room. When her older sister questioned about the reluctance, the 9-year-old revealed that the uncle was raping her.
The case was reported to the police and a medical test which was carried out thereafter, revealed that the minor has been infected with HIV.
When arraigned before Regional Magistrate Mr Christopher Maturure on two counts of raping his niece and one count of deliberately infecting her with HIV, the man pleaded not guilty and made a spirited attempt to deny the charges. However his subterfuge did not work, and the magistrate found him guilty after a full trial.
The magistrate had no kind words for the uncle who abused his position of trust to prey on his sister’s child. He said that his sentence should serve as a deterrence to other like-minded would-be offenders and sentenced him to 33 years in prison.
The Chronicle reported that Maturure said;
“Her life has totally changed because of your actions. For rape you are sentenced to 18 years and deliberately infecting the complainant, 15 years."
Fresh protest in Abuja turns violent
The latest protest in Orozo came hours after motorcycle operators carried out a violent protest at Karu on Sunday, May 9.
According to Daily Sun, an eyewitness said that trouble started in Orozo after youths of the town, worried about the reckless way tricycle operators parked in the area, approached them and advised that they park properly to avoid creating accidents.
The source said: "The youths advised traders selling bread, fruits, food stuffs and other items by the roadside to relocate further inside to make the road clearer. While most of the keke riders accepted the advice from the youths and moved to the place where they asked them to start using as parking lot, one Hausa boy refused and brought out a knife and attacked one of the youths. Angered by the attack on the young man, the youths pounced on him and gave him the beating of his life.
"Before they knew what was happening, the said operator mobilised his fellow Hausas who stormed the area for reprisal attack. The youths of the town who were not deterred immediately mobilised themselves armed with all manner of weapon and chased the Hausa boys away. That was how the riot broke out. Two persons were killed and others injured during the clash."
Subsequently, Orozo youths, armed with guns, machetes knives, sticks, petrol, and lighter took to the expressway leading to Karshi, attacking and destroying every Keke Napep they sighted.

Ladies Are Attracted To Him, Because He His Good In Bed – Mr Ibu Say's
He said, “I am not s#x-crazed at all. I can abstain for two years. When I had a problem, I stayed off s#x for a long time. I am not controlled by s#x. As of now, I have stayed off s#x for at least four months. Remember that I was poisoned in December 2020, so I need to recuperate before engaging in such acts. My wife is also missing me. It was not easy for her. She was crying every minute because she genuinely loves me.
“Some people have said that people with potbellies are not good lovers or sexually active but being good on the bed is relative. My answer to this is that I have 13 children (10 boys and two girls) though I lost one of them. That is the evidence of my sexual virility. I hatch children like pigeons.”
Mr Ibu further also insisted that he does not cheat on his wife. He added, “I don’t cheat on my wife. I had children before I married her. I left that life because many women wanted to have children for me but I cannot build a primary school in my house. They liked me because I was good in bed and I’m really grateful for that. I knew what they wanted so I was always very gentle with them. Women are attracted to me but I’m only interested in my wife. My wife is as beautiful as I met her, even after four children.”
The actor also stated that his ailment took a toll on his finances. He said, “I have friends that have been financially supportive. I am sure they remember some good things that I have done for them in the past. I stopped working since 2018 but I saved some money when I was very active and that has helped me a great deal. Some fans were also helpful when I was poisoned. The treatment caused me a lot of money and it has really taken a toll on my finances.”

High Profile Nigerians To Face Prosecution For Financing Terrorism – AGF Abubakar
The Attorney-General of the Federation has disclosed that some high profile Nigerians will be facing prosecution for financing terrorism.
This is coming after over 400 businessmen were arrested in an operation coordinated by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), and in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Malami who addressed newsmen on Friday May 7, said the arrest of some of the suspects followed the recent conviction of some Nigerians for financing terrorism in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He also disclosed that gave rise to a wider and far-reaching investigation in Nigeria.
He said;
“As you will actually know, some time back, there were certain convictions of Nigerians allegedly involved in terrorism financing in the United Arab Emirates.
“That gave rise to a wider and far-reaching investigation in Nigeria and I’m happy to report that arising from the wider coverage investigation that has been conducted in Nigeria, a number of people, both institutional and otherwise, were found to be culpable.
“I mean reasonable grounds for suspicion of terrorism financing have been established, or perhaps has been proven to be in existence in respect of the transactions of certain higher profile individuals and businessmen across the country.
“I’m happy to report that investigation has been ongoing for long and it has reached an advanced stage.
“Arising from the investigation, there exists, certainly, reasonable grounds for suspicion that a lot of Nigerians, high-profile, institutional and otherwise, are involved in terrorism financing and they are being profiled for prosecution.
“In essence, it is indeed true that the government is prosecuting and it’s indeed initiating processes of prosecuting those high-profile individuals that are found to be financing terrorism. It is indeed true.”
Malami who did not give the number of suspects being investigated, stated that anyone found culpable will face the full wrath of the law.
He added;
“As to the number, investigation is ongoing and it has to be conclusive before one can arrive at a certain number. But one thing I can tell you is it is a large number and they are being profiled for prosecution,” he said.
“It is indeed a large number and I’m not in a position to give you the precise number as at now, because the profiling and investigation are ongoing.
“The message is clear; nobody is going to be spared. No stone will be left unturned. We shall certainly and aggressively pursue those people that are involved in terrorist financing as far as the Nigerian state is concerned."
