27years After, Suspected Killer Of American Rapper, Tupac Finally Arrested

Las Vegas police has arrested a man on suspicion of murder in the 1996 shooting of hip-hop star Tupac Shakur.

Duane “Keffe D” Davis was arrested early Friday morning, Sept. 29, although the exact charge or charges were not immediately clear.

An indictment was expected later on Friday, AP reports.

Shakur was wounded in a drive-by shooting near the Las Vegas Strip on Sept. 7, 1996. He died in a hospital six days later (Sept. 13) at the age of 25.

Davis has admitted in interviews and in his 2019 tell-all memoir, “Compton Street Legend,” that he was in the Cadillac from which the gunfire erupted during the shooting, the AP said.

In July this year, Las Vegas police served a search warrant at the Henderson, Nevada, home of Davis’ wife, Pamela Clemons, as part of Shakur’s homicide investigation.

Cops confiscated several computers, laptops and iPads from the home, as well as a .40-caliber cartridge — the same type as the many casings that were recovered from the scene where Shakur was shot, according to a search warrant obtained by The Post.

Greg Kading, a retired LAPD detective who had investigated Tupac’s death, told The Post Friday: “Davis provided the gun and he actively sought out Tupac with his nephew.

“Davis gave the gun to his nephew, who was in the car with them, and collectively, they went out and intended to shoot Tupac. He provided the gun, and his nephew did the shooting, so they are all equally guilty under solicitation for murder.”

Kading added, “I am super excited because this is huge! We knew this wasn’t an unsolved case, and now it looks like they have taken it to a point where they can officially close it. For the rest of history, Tupac’s murder will not be considered an unsolved crime.”

Tupac’s life was cut short when the rap star and friends were driving to a nightclub in a convoy after watching the Mike Tyson-Bruce Seldon world heavyweight title fight in Las Vegas.

When the black BMW Shakur was riding in stopped at a traffic light, a white Cadillac pulled up alongside and a gunman inside fired at least nine bullets, apparently aimed at the passenger seat where Shakur was.

Update: I Did Not Kill Mohbad, I Went To Kenya In Search Of Upcoming Stars To Perform For My Mum’s Burial – Sam Larry

Embattled Nigerian socialite Balogun Olamilekan Eletu, aka Sam Larry, has denied having a hand in the death of Promise “Mohbad” Aloba after videos showed him confronting the singer during a video shoot.

“I have been away since August 20th Till now, I don’t know anything other than what was written in the blogs and press,” said Sam Larry, who claimed to have been in Kenya before Mohbad’s death on September 12. He said he was away to search for a star to perform at his mother’s annual remembrance.

In a statement he shared on his Snapchat page, the socialite, an ally of Naira Marley, who was also accused of mistreating Mohbad, explained that the source of his dispute with the late singer was a N2 million owed to him by the “Peace” crooner.

In videos on social media, Sam Larry was spotted confronting Mohbad during a music video shoot with Zlatan, where he harassed the singer.

But despite facing allegations related to Mohbad’s passing, Sam Larry underscored that their disagreement was exclusively centred around the unsettled debt. He asserted that he paid Mohbad N2 million for a performance at his mother’s annual remembrance concert, but the late singer failed to attend.

According to Sam Larry, when asked about the N2 million, Mohbad claimed to have been ill and broke since he was leaving Naira Marley’s Marlian Records. He said Mohbad claimed to have lost his phone when operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) raided his apartment in early 2022.

“I then left, all for me to later hear that this same boy was having a musical video shoot the next door, practically next street to my house, so I went there to ask for my money again, we had an argument that lasted five minutes, even one of his friends insisted he was going to pay the money, up till today one kobo they have not paid me, this was early last year. I have since then moved on,” Sam Larry stated.

He further claimed, “ I don’t even know where he lives; I only know his former record label boss and their house. I don’t know any nurse or doctor or hospital; I don’t know anything about his movement; I don’t have that time; I have lost a lot of money than before; you win some, you lose some. This is my story. I came willingly and happily. I know nothing about the musician died.”

He was taken into police custody Thursday evening over the ongoing investigation of Mohbad’s death.

Meanwhile, Mohbad had, in June this year, petitioned the police, seeking protection against alleged threats to his life and properties by Sam Larry.

In the petition, Mohbad alleged that he was shooting a video when thugs numbering about 15 and led by Sam Larry attacked him with dangerous weapons and threatened him. He said Sam Larry claimed to be acting on the orders of Oba Elegushi.

I Don’t Need Title To Serve In Tnubu’s Government – Fashola Boast

Former Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola (SAN) says he does not need a title to serve in the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, which, in his view, is birthing the next generation.

Mr Fashola spoke in an interview at the Lagos State University, Ojo, on Tuesday. He was at the university to deliver a keynote address at the institution’s fifth research and innovation fair.

The former Lagos State governor, who also served as Mr Tinubu’s chief of staff when the president was governor, was responding to a question on his role in the present administration at the federal level and the possibility of an appointment.

He said, “There are just enough places in parastatals; they are doing that; we are estimated to be 200 million, so there are not enough offices to take everybody.

“All of us must play our roles as citizens, and a citizen does not need a title to serve.

“The biggest title you need is that of being a citizen and play our role; we are also talking about the next generation.

”If some do not move on, where is the place for the next batch?”

The former minister said there was a need to bring more outstanding public-spirited people to occupy spaces as they evolve.

I’ll Faint If I See N1billon – Ex-governor Of Adamawa State, Bala Says

Ex-governor Ngilari who governed the North-Eastern state briefly between October 2014 and May 2015, was convicted of corruption involving N166 million and sent to prison, after leaving the office.

Ngilari who reacted to the corruption case against him during an interview with Daily Trust, stated that there is no court case against him for diverting money.

When asked if he had “like N1bn of your own?”, he replied, “If I see N1bn now, I will faint.” He added;

“In fact, the good thing is that the greatest difficulty for a person who tries to be honest and righteous is that you gather so many enemies. Till tomorrow, I say it boldly without fear or favour, if you take the proceedings of the courts that arraigned me on a five-count charge, there is not one count of the five that said I took one naira or diverted one naira, not one.”

Ngilari further revealed that after losing the governorship seat, he wanted to contest as a senator in the following election year, but could not because the delegates in his party were asking for N1m each.

He said;

“In fact, I tried to contest for the Senate too under APC. I went round, toured and two, three days to the primary election, I called and reached out to the delegates through my director general and my coordinators.

“The delegates told me, ‘Look, sir, when it comes to the right person to go for this thing, you are the right person, but honestly we will be sincere and honest with you we cannot accept N100,000 which you want to offer us.’

“To help. My idea was that I could offer N100,000 for probably 200 people. That would come to about N20 million, so that they could go and start something at home.

“I mean N100,000 at that time was something. (But) they said, ‘No, sir, we will not collect your N100,000 because there are people who are willing to give us one N1 million each.’’

I Was Security Guard And Now President – Tinubu To Nigerians In India

Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, has said that he was once security guard, adding that good education was one reason why he became the country’s president.

A statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity, Tinubu said this in an interaction with Nigerians on Thursday evening in India.

Tinubu who is presently in India for the G-20 Summit advised Nigerian students in the Asian country to consider their education as a priority.

According to the statement, he said, “Good education brought me here and I am happy to stand before you here as the President of Nigeria. I started small. I was a security guard. I was a tutor in school. I was a brilliant student. I joined Deloitte and was trained by one of the biggest accounting firms in the world, because of my education.

“When I joined them, I asked them, do you have branches in Nigeria and they said, ‘we have a lot of clients that will take you, if you want to go home.’ That’s how I got to Exxon Mobil and was a very successful accountant, auditor-general, and treasurer, until I joined politics with a can-do attitude.

“You can also do it; do not be despondent in any way. Nigeria is ready to accommodate all. It does not matter which part of Nigeria you are from.”

The President urged Nigerians to use the country’s rich variety to advance wealth and national development for the benefit of all citizens.

“We are here to present a new future to you. A future of a country that is so rich, endowed, and highly populated. Very dynamic, unique in its culture, tradition, and ethnicity. That is what will make our prosperity possible, if only we can make use of our diversity for prosperity,” he said.

We’ll Not Send You To Dubai; We’ll Buy You Goats, Broilers To Rear – VP Shettima Tells Atiku After Tribunal Judgment

The Vice-President, Mr Kashim Shettima, has said that following the judgment delivered by the Presidential Election Petition Court, the All Progressives Congress will retire the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, politically.

Shettima spoke on Wednesday night while addressing journalists shortly after the Tribunal judgment which he described as a testimony to the fate Nigerians have in President Bola Tinubu and his administration.

When asked if he would still retire ‘political tourists’ as he said during the campaign, Shettima said the APC had moved beyond the phase of politics.

He said, “Now we are in the phase of governance. Atiku Abubakar is an elder statesman that I hold in very high esteem.

“Anybody who knows the socio-cultural interactions between Fulanis and the Kanuris in the North will know that I have the liberty to hurl insults at him and he will stoically bear it. We are not going to retire him to Dubai or Morocco, I will retire him to Kombina. I will buy him goats, broilers and layers so that he can spend his days rearing goats and broilers.”

But that’s on the joking side, he added.

“On a more serious note, he is an elder statesman, the nation needs him. Experience is not something that you can buy in the marketplace. We’d tap into his wealth of experience and exposure to catapult the nation to a higher pedestal.

“Politics is over, governance is now important.”

On Wednesday the five-member panel of justices of the court led by Justice Haruna Tsammani affirmed the election of Tinubu and Shettima while delivering judgment on the petition filed by Atiku Abubakar and his party, the PDP.

The tribunal also dismissed the petitions filed by the Labour Party and its candidate in the election, Peter Obi and the Allied Peoples Movement.

However, Shettima also called on those he offended by his utterances in the course of the election to forgive him, insisting that he said those things because of politics.

He said, “It’s a great day for Nigeria. The Nigerian judiciary has proven itself to be the guardians for justice and fairness against the sirens of deception. It’s a battle between the will of the people and the forces of misinformation and disinformation. But democracy has finally triumphed. Like the bird phoenix, it rises from the ashes – resolute and unyielding.

“And in this age of information, discernment is our greatest armour and unity it’s our strongest force.

“Remember, ladies and gentlemen, in this battle for the survival of the nation, in this grand symphony of democracy, your voice, your vote is a note that cannot be silenced.”

Thanking Nigerians and the APC leadership, he said, “My principal, President Ahmed Tinubu is eternally indebted to the Nigerian people and to the leadership of the party who have been here since 9 am – our governors, our energetic chairman and national secretary of the party. Words cannot adequately convey our gratitude to the Nigerian people.”

Shettima called for unity in the country, saying what “binds us together supersedes whatever divides us”.

“Let’s unite as a people and face our common challenges,” he added.

Jubilation As Portable Storms Filling Station, Pays For All Customers

Popular Street-hop artiste, Portable is making the headlines once again, this time for a remarkable act of generosity as he covers the expenses for all patrons at a local petrol station.

In a series of TikTok videos, the ‘Zazu’ crooner is captured in his usual ‘element’ volunteering to pay for everyone who came to buy fuel at a particular filling station in his community.

As he announced his intention to the attendants, an eruption of jubilant cheers and heartfelt praise ensued.

Portable’s name resounded throughout the area, with some individuals even requesting that he distribute cash, a request he graciously fulfilled.

The self-styled ‘Wahala’ singer could be heard saying in Yoruba language: “I want to buy fuel for everyone. I want to buy fuel for my people”, he said, holding a POS machine and inputting his pin.

“Sell fuel for all the vehicles, motorcycles (Okada), I’ll pay. I’ll also share money but you people should go and buy fuel first.

“Right now, I’m upset. Besides that, we will also splash money (reaches into his pocket, pulls out some N1,000 notes, and throws them in the air while the people scamper to pick them).

“I have paid the bills for fuel purchased by everybody and I’ve also given people money to buy food to eat.

“You, the elderly ones, there’s no need for you people to run after me.”

To accompany the clips on his Instagram page, Portable wrote: “IKA OF AFRICA ZAZUU The Street DonJazzy.” (The Nation)

Breaking: Fire Outbreak In Murtala Muhammed Airport In Lagos

A part of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos State, was on Tuesday night razed by fire, according to eyewitnesses.

It was learnt that the inferno was caused by a faulty cable on the Tarmac at the international wing of the airport – an incident which led to confusion as passengers and staff tried to escape from the facility.

It was reported that the fire destroyed a section of the administrative office of FAAN.

“All passengers and staff were asked to evacuate the building while the Lagos State Fire service was on hand to complement that of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN),” a source said.

In March 2021, SaharaReporters reported how the airport was gutted by fire around the departure hall of the Kenyan Airways.

“Part of the Lagos airport was earlier gutted by fire. The Kenyan airways office at departure, that was where the fire happened.

“The airport staff around quenched the fire alongside some fire fighters from FAAN (Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria),” a source had told SaharaReporters in 2021.

We Knew Fuel Subsidy Should Go But Played Politics With 2012 Occupy Nigeria Protest – Ex-Gov. Fayemi

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has said that the protest against the fuel subsidy removal during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration in 2012, by the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and other opposition political parties, was basically premised on political interests.

The former governor said this on Tuesday in his keynote address delivered at a national dialogue organised to celebrate the 60th birthday of the founding National Secretary of Alliance for Democracy and Fellow, Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Professor Udenta Udenta in Abuja.

Speaking at the event attended by former President Jonathan, former education minister, Oby Ezekwesili and former aviation minister, Osita Chidoka, among others, Fayemi said that all political parties in the country agreed and put in their manifesto that the subsidy must be removed but that the ACN played politics with it.

On January 1, 2012, then-President Jonathan announced the removal of fuel subsidy and adjusted the official fuel pump price from N65 per litre to N141, but the opposition political parties unleashed mass protests tagged, ‘Occupy Nigeria’ to kick against it.

The ‘Occupy Nigeria’ mass protests involving opposition political parties, especially the defunct ACN, of which Fayemi was a member, across major cities of the country compelled Jonathan to re-adjust the official fuel pump price to N97 and subsequently to N87 in 2015 at the eve of the 2015 general elections.

However, President Bola Tinubu, who was a prominent member of the ACN, which later merged with other parties to form the All Progressives Congress (APC), announced the removal of fuel subsidy in his inaugural speech on May 29.

According to report, Fayemi while condemning what he described as the “winners take all” style in Nigerian politics and democracy, said the challenges facing the country would not be solved unless the country embraced proportional representation.

He noted that the last time Nigeria experienced economic development was during Jonathan’s administration

The former governor was quoted as saying, “Today, I read former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s interview in The Cable saying our liberal democracy is not working and we need to revisit it, and I agree with him. We must move from the political alternatives. I think we are almost on a dead end of that.

“What we need is alternative politics and my own notion of alternative politics is that you can’t have 35 percent of the vote and take 100 percent. It won’t work!

“We must look at proportional representation so that the party that is said to have won 21 percent of the votes will have 21 percent of the government. Adversary politics bring division and enmity.

“All political parties in the country agreed and they even put in their manifesto that the subsidy must be removed. We all said the subsidy must be removed. But we in ACN at the time, in 2012, we know the truth, Sir, but it is all politics.

“That is why we must ensure that everybody is a crucial stakeholder by stopping all these. Let the manifesto of PDP, APC and Labour Party be put on the table and select all those who will pilot the programme from all parties.”
