Rochas Orders Imo Workers To Return To Their Offices, Says Recession Has Ended

Rochas Okorocha the Imo State Governor, has proscribed the three-day work policy his government propagated for the civil servants in the state.

Okorocha disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the Government House, Owerri, on his preparation to celebrate seven years of free education and 42 years since the creation of Imo State.

It will be recalled that in 2016, Okorocha’s policy reduced the  weekly five working days to three  to enable civil servants use two days to invest in agriculture.

The governor’s  reason for reverting the policy is because recession has ended. He added that, “From March 1st, the normal five days work policy will take effect.”

On the issue of 2019 gubernatorial election, Okorocha was of the view that he would not support Ifeanyi Ararume.

According to him, “There are people who I can’t support, like Araraume. I heard that Ikedi Ohakim, is coming out to contest for governor, and he said he he was coming for just one term.

” Let me tell you people, Ohakim is angry with Imo people and he is coming out for vengeance. He will come and pack  for generations unborn. Listen, he is not happy with Imo people.

“What I want is for Imo people to show me the person and I will support that person who will be our governor. They say the Deputy governor, Prince Eze Madumere, wants to contest and Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu wants to contest.

“I think Chike Okafor also wants to contest but I have not made up my mind who to support. I am waiting for Imo people to choose.

“What I do not want is  somebody who is wicked or a 419 person to be governor of Imo state. I do not want somebody who does not have a forgiving spirit to be Imo governor. There are qualities we are looking  for in the person that will be governor of this state.”

However, the governor mentioned the names of those he had declared his support for and the positions they are vying for  which included the present Commissioner for Information, Nnamdi Obiaraeri for Imo North Senatorial position and Ugonna Ozuigbo, for Njaba /Nwangele/Isu/Nkwerre Federal constituency.”

Speaking on the controversial Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment, headed by Okorocha’s younger sister, Ogechi Ololo, he said the ministry would be overseeing the issue of job employment, justice and fairness; special citizens, senior citizens, conflict resolution, public complaints among others.
