''I killed him because of his lack of respect for elders'' - Murder Suspect Tells Police

A murder suspect, Umar Umar, arrested in Niger state, has told the police that he killed one Mustapha Mohammed during an argument because of his lack of respect for his elders.



According to police investigation, Umar hacked Mohammed to death with a matchete and then buried him in a shallow grave at a farm in the Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State. After he was apprehended, Umar said he was angry at the deceased for being very disrespectful to him and many elders in the area.

“I got angry and killed him for disrespecting me and the elders living in the same area with him. He lacked respect and this has affected him. It is a pity he has paid the price for being disrespectful to his seniors. I purposely killed him for lacking respect for his elders. He has learnt his lesson the hard way, it’s unfortunate.

I have no regrets because that is what Mohammed deserved. He never listened to the advice of elders, he talked to people anyhow.” he said

The police say since he has confessed to the crime, he would be charged to court soon.
