Group Calls For Akingboye's Nomination As Jegede's Running Mate

A socio cultural group from Ondo South Senatorial District, under the aegies of Save Ikale Youths Vanguard (SIYV) has called for the nomination of Otunba Bamidele Benson Oluwaseyi Akingboye (OBA) as the running mate of Eyitayo Jegede under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).


In a statement made available to the press by the Publicity Secretary, Jide Oladapo, on August 9th, 2020, the group appraised the state of Ikale Nation at a meeting in Okitipupa; noted that Ikales have been shortchanged and relegated to the background in terms of development in recent times, and therefore resolved on the need to support their ilustrious sons to restore the lost glory of the land.

He Said "without prejudice to other ethnic nationalities in Ondo state, we the youths of Ikale Land observed the major sideline of our region in terms of development and other dividends of democracy.

"It is on this note that we critically analyzed the political realities on ground and realized that it may be practically difficult for any Ikale man to become Ondo state's governor at this moment having lost out in the primary election in the two major Political parties, PDP and APC in the state.

"Now that the APC has chosen its Deputy Governorship Candidate from Ilaje LGA. It will be more strategic for PDP to consider picking from Okitipupa LGA.

"After wide consultation and  scrutiny on our ilustrious sons and daughters, we found  Otunba Akingboye very qualified among others, and hereby urge Eyitayo Jegede SAN and the PDP to consider him as the Deputy Governorship Candidate."

The group described Akingboye as a patriot and achiever who has used his God given resources to uplift the masses.

The group also noted that Akingboye had been very consistent with his ambition to govern Ondo state, having been contesting for over 17 years, thereby affording him the opportunity to have a widespread followership and legitimacy across the length and breath of Ondo state. "An indication that he means well and ready to liberate the good people of Ondo state"

Recall that Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA), a Lagos based business tycoon, is among  the PDP gubernatorial aspirants until Eyitayo Jegede was elected the party's candidate.
