The explosion took place around 9:00am on Friday and despite the combined efforts of the federal and state fire services, the fire was still raging as at the time of filing this report.
An explosion reportedly killed three persons at the BUA Cement Company in Sokoto State on Friday.
The cause of the explosion is still unknown, but a source at the factory said the deceased were repairing the tanks when it occurred.
“One of the tanks contained about two million litres of diesel while the other one contained black oil of the same quantity,” the source said.
Another source said, “There is another tank which we are trying to protect against the explosion.”
Our reporter also gathered that three other personnel are currently receiving treatment in a medical facility in Sokoto.
The spokesperson for the Sokoto State Fire Service, Bello Baban Addini, confirmed the explosion at the cement factory.
He, however, said the agency could not tell the exact cause of the explosion as at the time of filing this report.
Several attempts to obtain comments from any of the management staff of the company was not successful.
