The Nigerian Correctional Service has redeployed the comptroller of the Kirikiri maximum prison in Lagos State, Lizzie Ekpendu, over a beauty pageant held in the facility to mark this year’s international women’s day.
Recall that 21-year-old Chidinma Ojukwu, who’s the alleged killer of Super TV CEO, Micheal Ataga, was crowned the winner of the pageant, tagged Miss Cell 2022.
The news had sparked outrage online as many Nigerians condomned the move.
According to report, although the prison authorities defended the action, the comptroller of the female prisons, Mrs Ekpendu, was redeployed last week as a result of the matter. She was redeployed to the Lagos Command Headquarters, Alagbon, Ikoyi.
“I can confirm to you that Mrs Ekpendu, the Comptroller of Kirikiri Female Prison has been redeployed to the Lagos Command Headquarters, Ikoyi. She has been replaced by another senior female officer,” the source said.
