Senator Abba Moro Receives Atiku Grassroots Movement, Pledges Support For PDP Victory

The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro, on Wednesday, received in audience the Benue State Chapter of Atiku Grassroots Movement (AGM) in his National Assembly office.

The support group is formed to campaign for the presidential candidate of PDP, Alh. Atiku Abubakar, and PDP generally for the 2023 general elections.

The leader and Chief Convener of the group, Hon. Terzungwe Atser, in his speech, said the idea was conceived to complement the efforts of PDP campaign structure in Benue State.

Hon. Atser who is a former Chairman of Benue Inland Revenue Service (BIRS) said the group intended to go to the grassroots and meet with the people and voters, and talk with them. He said they formed the group to embark on voters' education, to educate and enlighten people from LG to LG, and ward to ward on the need for them to vote PDP and all its candidates in the 2023 general elections. He said they were in the Senator's office to introduce themselves and their activities to him, and seek his support for their effectiveness.

In his response, Senator Moro commended his guests for taking their time to visit him. He said as a party man who has been with PDP since 1998, he was willing to support any action that's geared towards electoral victory for the party.

His words, "I believe so much in the grassroots, which is why I'm always at home with my people  to identify with them.

"Your approach to politicking aligns very much with my political ideologies. Politicking is all about the grassroots; you must tell the people, in concrete terms, how you intend to solve their problems if elected into office. The era of politicians going to the people to make empty promises and buying their ways into political offices is over. The people are now wiser, so it's instructive that we go to them with the truth."

On the seeming crisis in the party, Senator Moro lamented the situation and appealed to all aggrieved parties to mellow  down on their rhetoric, sheath their swords and embrace peace for the sake of the party and the country at large. He said the 2023 general election is for PDP to loose, considering the poor performance of the APC-led government as evident in the rising poverty level, economic downturn and escalating insecurity plaguing the country. He appealed to stakeholders to close ranks and rescue the country from the claws of APC, a task that Nigerians look up to the party to undertake for them.

The Senator encouraged supporters and grassroots mobilizers to ignore insults. According to him, "Leaders are dustbins, let's prepare to take insults and not respond to them."

He promised to support the group and do his utmost best to ensure that the organization becomes effective in delivering on its mandate. He charged PDP members to work hard to deliver the party at the federal and state levels, stating that PDP has always meant well for the country.

Other members of the delegation included Hon. Ameh Akoche, former Executive Chairman, Apa LGA, and State Coordinator of AGM; Hon. Mrs. Joyce Tartor Chianson, former Chairman of Kwande LGA and State Woman Coordinator, AGM; Hon. Austine Ajieje, former Leader, Logo LGA and State Deputy Coordinator, AGM; Hon. Asawa Joseph, former Chairman, Ushongo LGA, and State Publicity Coordinator, AGM, and Hon. Ms. Josephine Iorvihi, former Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on job creation and State Coordinator, strategy, contact and mobilization, AGM.
