Court Adjourns Nigerian Ex-Minister, Diezani’s Bribery Trial To November 2025

The court hearing involving former Nigerian minister of petroleum resources, Diezani Alison -Madueke in the United Kingdom, over bribery allegations has been adjourned to November 2025

The Westminster Magistrates Court adjourned hearing on the suit on Monday, October 30.

Nigerian former minister, 63-year-old Alison-Madueke is on trial for allegedly accepting a £100,000 bribe.

On October 2, Michael Snow, the district judge at the Westminster Magistrates Court in the United Kingdom, granted Alison-Madueke bail in the amount of £70,000 after judging her “a flight risk.”

Before she was granted bail, Snow had put harsh conditions on Alison-Madueke, including an 11p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew and the wearing of an electronic tag at all times.

Alison-Madueke and four other people were detained in the United Kingdom in October 2015 on suspicion of bribery and money laundering.

The UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) stated in August 2023 that they suspected Alison-Madueke of accepting bribes in exchange for awarding multi-million pound oil and gas contracts.

The NCA stated on its website that Alison-Madueke “is alleged to have benefited from at least £100,000 in cash, chauffeur-driven cars, private jet flights, luxury vacations for her family, and the use of multiple London properties.”

Meanwhile, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, has submitted a warrant of arrest and request to the Crown Prosecution Services of the United Kingdom for the urgent extradition of Allison-Madueke.

EFCC had on October 2, revealed that it had commenced extraditing Mrs Alison-Madueke from the United Kingdom back to Nigeria over 13-count charges bordering on money laundering levelled against her by the anti-graft agency.

The commission further revealed that the money laundering charges for which Alison-Madueke is answerable to the EFCC, covered jurisdictions in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Nigeria.

The EFCC alleged that the former minister in the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan from 2010 to 2015 stole $2.5billion from the Nigerian government while she was a minister.

In January 2023, Alison-Madueke asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to vacate an order granted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for final forfeiture of her seized assets.

Also, on Saturday 27 May 2023, she instituted a suit against the EFCC and the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation over what she termed a false and malicious attempt to “paint her as a common criminal”.

This was filed in the Federal High Court, Abuja Judicial Division, with Suit No. CV/6273/2023, and signed by her legal representation led by Mike Ozekhome, SAN.

I Was Only 14years Old When My Step Siblings Used Me For Sexual Experiment – Cynthia Morgan

Nigerian singer, Cynthia Morgan, has revealed that her half-siblings used her for sexual experiment. She also demanded a DNA test to confirm her biological dad.

The singer made the revelations on her Instagram story on Monday, expressing doubts about her paternity due to the way she had been treated at home.

Cynthia claimed that when she was 14 years old, her half-siblings began using her for sexual experiment. They allegedly stopped after she told her mother, but started to bullying her for telling.

She further bemoaned her father’s attitude of entitlement, saying that only a “fraudulent father” would instruct his kids to “take care” of him before he prayed for them.

She wrote, “I was 14 when I lost my virginity in my father’s house because my half-sister and half-brother decided to be using me for s3xual experiment.

“This shit went on for months till I was able to tell my mum and (they) went on to start bulling me in school and telling their friends not to befriend me and always pick on me so they would beat me.

“I went through all of this as a teen, now it’s their father’s turn.

“We gats(have to) do this DNA test. There will be no peace for the wicked.

“And mind you all, this would have been a thing of the past, if this man didn’t come back into my life in 2016 to finish what he and his children started.

“My supposed father’s favourite phrase is ‘you have to take care of your father o, you have to take care of your father o. So he can always pray for you.

“Bro, I don’t have and btw (by the way) I don’t even owe you a WAEC certificate.

“And if my money is equal to your prayers then you’re a fraudulent father.

“I always knew the part of him being a fraud though. Reason I am finally asking for a DNA.

Mohbad Was Killed By Naira Marley’s Enemies After He Left Marlins Record – Portable

Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as Portable, has said the late Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as Mohbad was killed by the enemies of Naira Marley.

Naira Marley owns Marlian record label, where Mohbad was a signee before they parted ways.

The singer made this known in a viral video.

According to him, Mohbad was nurtured and supported by Marlian Records but he turned his back on the team.

He alleged that Mohbad accused the label of not showing love, which led to his departure and affiliation with Naira Marley’s rivals.

Portable, who spoke in Yoruba, said, “The ground now rejects betrayers nowadays. Mohbad died because of his betrayal, do you understand?

“The music industry has been ‘cast’ and I am going to ‘cast’ you all. Naira Marley was roped. They wanted to send me to prison but God saved me.

“We are the ones who see and help boys from trenches, and you would not see them then. That was how they did when Mohbad had a problem with Marlians. He said no one liked him.

“Who doesn’t love you? The person who built you no longer loves you? He went as far as rolling with the haters and enemies of Marlians. You know those I’m talking about.

“Why is it that whenever you leave your helper’s side you will go to his enemies? They’ve only done part 1, I didn’t go to prison and they are ready to do another one.”

“Naira Marley was implicated, Naira Marley’s opponents were the ones who killed Mohbad,” he said.

“When Mohbad was a betrayer, he was chilling with Naira Marley’s enemies, that’s why he was killed. He double-crossed; do you understand? Yes, it’s Mohbad.

“This life, don’t be so bad so that you can see tomorrow. In case you want to ‘Japa’ like Marley, he was implicated and God will definitely save Marley because Marley is a helper. They wanted to do to me what they did to Marley.

“They brainwash the guys we are helping and turn them into our enemies. My enemies are using my guys to attack me. I am the biggest bird, and the bird’s food belongs to the bird and the bird will fly with it.

“Don’t cross-carpet because you want to blow, it’s gone like that,” Portable added.

Generator Dealers, Diesel Suppliers Are Frustrating Efforts Of Government To Provide Nigerians With Electricity – Ex-Power Minister, Nnaji

The former Minister of Power, Prof Bart Nnaji has accused diesel suppliers and generator dealers of sabotaging the efforts of the government and power distribution companies in providing steady electricity to Nigerians.

Nnaji spoke Wednesday while speaking as a guest on Flo 94.9 FM Umuahia on the programme called ‘South East Political Roundtable’.

The Chairman of Geometric Power Company Ltd, operators of Aba Power, said diesel suppliers and generator sellers had caused blackouts in the country, adding that some of the dealers had approached him, complaining that he (Nnaji) was ruining their businesses.

Nnaji, in the programme monitored by SaharaReporters, said, “Nigeria is a big user of generators because of our enormous power needs and those who are in the business would not want any interruption.

“The diesel suppliers feel that a stable power supply would destroy their business. In fact, some of them came to me that I am ruining their business and I advised them to get into a better business, maybe power generation.”

The former power minister stated that like some other sectors, the power sector has some cabals who benefit from poor power supply.

“A graphic picture of how dangerous the diesel suppliers can be is when we were in government, somewhere in the South West, some men cut down 30KVA lines to stop electricity supply to thousands of users.

“Unfortunately, the diesel supplying company sponsored the operation; incidentally the power cable fell on one of them who later confessed to the crime,” he said.

Nigerians Are Suffering Because Of Bad Leadership – Governor Obaseki Lament

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has blamed the current socioeconomic challenges bedevilling the country on poor leadership decisions by the nation’s leaders.

Obaseki, who spoke to journalists in Benin City, the Edo State capital, said as an investment banker, he foresaw the hardship faced by Nigerians today as a result of bad economic decisions by leaders of the country and raised the alarm on the need for corrective measures to correct the situation.

He, however, added that his warnings were ignored.

He said as a governor, he understands that Nigerians are passing through tough and difficult times.

Nigerians should be resilient and not lose hope, Obaseki added.

The governor said, “I know as a Governor that we are all going through suffering in the land. I understand how the economy works and saw this ahead of time.

“I have been shouting since I became Governor that the way we are going and the kind of decision many of us politicians were making will bring about hardship.”

He further noted, “Nigeria was never like this before. God in his mercy endowed Nigeria like no other country in the World.

“How many countries in Africa have 100 million people not to talk about 200 million? God designed us as the biggest market in Africa. God gave us all and the problem we are facing as a nation is the one created by us, particularly our leaders.”

“If you are a leader and you are not ready to sacrifice yourself, then you are not ready for leadership.

“Leadership is not how much you can get for yourself. Nigerians are suffering today due to bad leadership. Nigeria is rich in terms of resources and has no business with poverty and suffering. We can grow and produce all we need to consume in Nigeria, so why are we not doing it?” he asked.

“The Federal Government, on Sunday, October 1, 2023 met with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) on measures to address the dispute arising from the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

I Inherited N359 billion Debt From Ortom – Benue State Governor, Alia Lament

Benue state governor, Hyacinth Alia has disclosed on Sunday that his administration inherited N359 billion as debt from the past administration of Samuel Ortom.

Mr Alia disclosed this at an interdenominational church service to commemorate Nigeria’s 63rd independence anniversary.

The church service was organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Benue State chapter, at the Methodist Cathedral, South Bank, Makurdi.

The governor, a Catholic priest, said that despite the debt burden, he was determined to reposition the state by providing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

“What we inherited was nothing to be proud of, but we will do what will make us all proud. I inherited over N359 billion in debt,” he said.

He regretted that the state lost billions of naira worth of agricultural produce and other property to herders’ attacks on farmers.

Mr Alia said the condition of rural dwellers following incessant herders’ attacks and fuel subsidy removal had become worrisome.

He said his administration would find ways to support farmers by providing seedlings, fertilisers, and other forms of support to enable them to work effectively in the coming farming season.

“My colleagues call me the governor of the richest state in Nigeria, and I agree with them because we have numerous mineral deposits; we have the best yams and soya beans, among others.

“We will create billionaires in the state through our farms. We have everything it takes to do it, ” the governor said.

Mr Alia ordered an immediate end to illegal mining in the state.

“The foreigners illegally mining gold in Kwande, Logo, Konshisha LGAs, and other places in the state should desist from it immediately. This is an order,” he said.

He decried the spate of kidnappings and other criminal activities in the state, pledging to tackle them.

The governor said his administration was training 10,000 youths in information technology for improved digital knowledge.

Jubilation As BUA Reduce Price Of Cement To 3,500, Promise More Reduction

It is safe to say this is indeed a great news to Nigerians as BUA Group has decided to bring down the price of Cement effective October 2, 2023.

According to a statement from the Cement manufacturer, the organization decided to bring the price reduction forward rather than waiting till when its new production lines were completed as it had earlier promised.

"We refer to our previous pronouncements regarding our intent to reduce cement prices upon the completion of our new lines at the end of the year, in order to spur development in the building materials and infrastructure sectors.

As per the commitment made to reduce prices and following a periodic review of our operations for efficiency, the management of BUA Cement Plc wishes to announce and inform our esteemed customers, stakeholders, and the public that effective October 2, 2023, we have decided to bring the price reduction forward. As a result, BUA Cement would now be sold at an ex-factory* price of 3,500 Naira per bag so that Nigerians can begin to enjoy the benefits of the price reduction before the completion of our plants.

Upon completion of the ongoing construction of our new plants, which would increase our production volumes to 17million metric tonnes per annum, BUA Cement PLC intends to review these prices further in line with our earlier pronouncements by the first quarter of 2024.

NOTE: all pending, undelivered orders which had been paid for at the old prices will be reviewed downwards to N3500/bag in line with the new pricing from October 2, 2023.
