FG Launches App To Easily Access CNG Fuel Stations Nationwide

The Federal Government on Saturday launched an application to provide Nigerians easy access to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling stations nationwide.

The application known as Rideshare Conversion Incentive Programme and the My CNG was developed by the Presidential Compressed Natural GAS Initiative (PCNGI) in line with the objectives of the current administration.

Sources said the Federal Government is hoping to achieve the conversion of at least one million petroleum vehicles in the country to CNG by 2027.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, GAS, Ekperipe Ekpo who spoke at the event lauded the PCNGI, for the development.

He said the programme and app were expected to contribute to increased access and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions which will lead to an improvement in air quality in Nigeria.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi represented by the Director General, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr Muhammed Bulama, said the official launch of the app was a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to promote sustainable energy solutions.

He added that the launch also exemplified the administration of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to providing accessible and affordable transportation for the Citizenry.

Project Director and Chief Executive Officer Presidential Compressed Natural GAS Initiative, Michael Oluwagbemiga stated that CNG is not just about lower transportation.

He added that it was an opportunity for Nigeria to look inwards to utilise the abundant natural resources in the country.
