Photos: How A Local Government In Lagos Is Contributing To The Spread Of Coronavirus In Nigeria

Sad as it may sound, Nigeria is obviously not ready to put an end to this deadly virus called, Coronavirus also known as Covid-19 that has crumbled almost all the activities in the country.

Since the outbreak of this deadly disease in the country which have sent so many to an early grave, one will think Nigeria is actually prepared to help stop the spread of this virus by taking every possible measure to help fight this pandemic.

Recall that a popular Nigerian award winning actor, Funke Akindele Bello and her husband JJC Skillz was convicted last week for violating the social distancing order which was enforced by the federal government and the Lagos state government to help culb the spread of the viruse after they held an indoor house party to celebrate her husband's birthday party in Lagos, they were made to pay a fine of 100,000 each and 14days community service, including another 14days in Isolation.

This development didn't go down well with some Nigerians after the video of them arriving the court room show where over 30 people were present at the court room with camera men rushing to take photos of the actor and her husband which Nigerians described as an irony of execution of social distancing order and further urged the governor to arrest those that was present at the court for obviously violating the same law the actors were being convicted for.

However, there's a viral photos making the rounds on social media where a particular Local Government in Lagos state is seen with crowd waiting at the entrance of the Ojo Local Government Secretariat's to get their Covid-19 relief package.

The pictures shows more than 100 person struggling to probably gain entrance into the premises of Ojo Local Government area in Lagos to get their covid-19 relief package which is by every means wrong.

This leaves me with no doubt than to say that even the government is not ready to help culb the spread of this virus else they would have made available a proper planning to distribute the relief package to people.

Even if the citizens don't get it right, it is in the place of the men at the top to help them put things right if truly we want an end to this disease that has crumbled the economy of the country.

How can a sector from the government watch this reckless act all in the name of giving out relief package to Lagocians? Do we sincerely want this to end? Are we not putting more lives at risk with this?

If we really want to help, this should be done door-to-door and not all these in the pictures. I think the Lagos state government need to do more about this relief package that is being distributed.

If we must practice and have effective social distancing, it has to come from the leader. it is by every means wrong for people to stay in queue because of a relief package and end up getting infected by the same virus and reason why they were asked to close down their businesses and stay indoors.

That being said, I want to use this medium to call on the Lagos government to look into this and help safe lives if we really want an end to this fight against humanity.

I know the governor and his men can't do everything themselves, but they should assign reliable hand to do this.

I want to also commend the governor and his vise for a job Weldon so far.

Please let's maintain a healthy lifestyle and environment, observe social distancing of any kind and stay safe.
